Will this be an upset by the Runners? Should be fun tv as Houston opens their new stadium. Expect a good contingent from UTSA and possibly a sellout of 40k.

UTSA fans that were mad about 2 midweek games aren't going to like this.

Kind of silly to move a game to be on ESPN *NEWS*...

I think their viewership is on par with NBC Sports and CBS Sports Network.

We'll take it. We now have 4 regular season games that should be on national tv (Arizona, Okie State, Houston and Southern Miss)

A ESPNews broadcast does seem like an odd reason to move a game to a Friday. On Suddenlink ESPNews is on the expanded sports-tier ($8.00 more a month) along with CBS Sports Network so I guess there's not much of a difference.

NBCSN is actually right there with ESPN, ESPN 2 and FS1 on Suddenlink. And not on the expanded sports tier you'd have to pay extra for.

On DirecTV espnNews is right next to espn, espnu and espn2 and only a few channels away from CBSsn, FS1 and NBCsn. All those are on the same tier at no extra charge.

I watch ESPN News more often that I do NBC Sports or CBS-SN, mainly because it is right next to the other ESPN channels.

I cancelled all channels except 2-22 for the spring/summer to save some money. I only have cable during fall and winter for football and hoops. After that I have no need for it. I Netflix everything, and if there's something I really want to watch I'll just find a site that's streaming it free.

So now the WKU vs BGSU game, which was also moved from Thursday night to Friday for TV, will have to compete with this game for C-USA fan's viewership?!? 01-wingedeagle

It does put two C-USA games up against eachother, but it was the American's call on the Houston/UTSA switch, not ours.

Houston fans happy to not be competing with the LSU and Wisconsin game at Reliant Stadium on Saturday.

Got there myself this year. Happy to not send that big monthly check to Comcast, who funnels my money through ESPN to the P5 cartel.

I'm ok watching Notre Dame, and whoever is on ABC or Fox. If I want a Rice away game or other C-USA, I'll hit a sports bar.

Actually we were concerned it might be an 11AM start. 11-2pm is brutal on a humid August afternoon. We like night kick offs early in the year.

RE: UTSA @ Houston moved to Friday, Aug 29th for TV.
This'll be good for us for two reasons ... 1) National exposure is always good for a young program like ours, and 2) Moving the game from Saturday to Friday night will give us a much needed extra day of rest for our Thursday night home opener against Arizona the next week.

The only thing that concerns me is that tickets will likely be hard to come by for the game because it's the christening of their new stadium, so I'd imagine that there'll be quite a bit more interest in that game than there would be otherwise, and it seats only 40K. I plan on attending every UTSA game this season (home and away), and this one will likely be the hardest ticket to buy.

I hope before the game starts that utsa drives a pick axe or a bird feather, whatever it is, into their new turf

Same with Dish network and not for nothing it beats the hell out of FSN games you can't find half the time.
