Grew up watching Godzilla movies, and that UltraMan TV series also. As cheesy as they are, I'll always prefer the Japanese Godzilla movies. That said, I can't wait for this one to come out because Americanized or not, it's still Godzilla and is sure to please (at least for those of us who're fans anyway).

I was a huge UltraMan fan. And Johnny Socko and his Flying Robot. But nothing was like Monster Week growing up in Detroit. Having watch the trailers for this upcoming Godzilla movie, I think fans of the King of Monsters will be thorougly pleased with what they see. I also think the movie will also attract a new generation of fans as well.

Godzilla and Bryan Cranston. What could possibly go wrong?

That's what I think. The budget on tthis one and the trailers look pretty impressive. This will open big---but it will have to be good to have any legs.

Who can resist a Godzilla (Godzirra) movie? The trailers for this new one has me full of anticipation.

Isn't it Gojira in Japanese?

I feel bad.. i actually like the Broderick version of Godzilla. IT was supposed to be a bit campy and ridiculous.

I do think this one will be a lot more horror/thriller thouh.

It can't be any worse than the 1998 version. What a heaping pile of disappointment that one was.

Every Godzilla movie gets better with improving special effects.

The 1998 version was one of the worst turkeys of all time. Based on the revenue agreement with the exhibitors, the producers/distributors obviously knew it was pure crap. And it was. So yeah I think the 2014 version will be much better.

Also big fans of the Prince of Space, in his white suit with cape and helmet, battling the Phantom of Krankor (with his laugh, Hee-Hee-Hee, completely deadpan) and big, pointy nose. I think the Prince (made in 1959) later was used as design for UltraMan (1966-67).

And how could this Godzilla not be better? Seriously, Matthew Brodrick, chased around Madison Square Garden? Give a Tojo monster picture of the 1960s or 1970s, directed by Ishirō Honda, anytime.

Agree. All of these re-makes are pathetic. Give me the old school, Japanese Godzilla flicks any day of the week. At least it was an original idea at the time and they had some comedic value.

Exactly.

A bunch of remade movies with avant-garde special effects, really bad acting, and horrible plots. I don't bother to watch them anymore.

It's proof positive how superficial & desperate for entertainment the public has become IMHO. "Bread and circuses" comes to mind.

OK, so I am superficial and desperate, but I am still looking forward to it!COGS

(I guess I should say I am looking forward to it coming to TV. I haven't been to a movie theatre since Gladiator came out.)
