New AAC/Belt Bowl in Orlando
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/co...5138.story

Makes 3 bowls that will be played at the Citrus Bowl Stadium. Gives the American another tie in, which reduces the chance they use the back up slot in Shreveport.

RE: New AAC/Belt Bowl in Orlando
I guess they need 3 bowl games to justify that 200 million dollar renovation...

Orlando will get the 2016 AAC tourney...sounds like Orlando opened their wallet.

while I'd like CUSA to have a bowl game in Orlando. I don't like it enough for another game vs. Sun Belt

New. The City of Orlando renovated the Citrus Bowl.

Sweet looks like the NCAA will have more bowl slots than teams playing. What does that make 39 bowls and counting? What garbage....note Orlando is a desirable location so I'll probably attend but I won't be happy.

If you attend will you pull for the SBC team or the AAC team?

Actually the AAC may have trouble having enough eligible teams to meet all it's bowl agreements. Nice problem to have.

That is strange to have so many bowls. It could be up to 13 bowls(?) in some kind of way, shape or form; including the Access bowl if the AAC earns it. I got this list from a poster on the AAC board:

Each year:
Birmingham vs SEC
Military vs ACC
St. Pete vs ACC/CUSA (3 years each)
Miami Beach vs MAC/CUSA/SBC (2 years each)
Cure Bowl vs SBC

Rotation:
Armed Forces vs Army/XII (2014, 2016, 2018)
Hawaii vs MWC (2015, 2017, 2019)
Bahamas vs MAC (2014, 2016, 2018)
Boca vs MAC/CUSA (2015, 2016, 2017, 2019)
New Orleans vs SBC/CUSA (2018, 2019)

Secondary ties:
Liberty vs SEC/XII
Independence vs ACC/SEC/CUSA (CUSA also has secondary tie)

The Orlando Bowl gives the AAC 7 tie-ins for this coming season and you will have 11 teams. I doubt there will be 7 available teams but I would rather have too many tie-ins than not enough.

That probably works out for CUSA, MWC and the Sun Belt too, because the AAC is probably not going to fill all of those bowls each year; so the other conferences will probably play in those unfilled games.

7 primary tie ins next year, but 8 primary tie ins down the road with 3 backups for 12 teams. That may be too many and not allow AAC to fill attractive backup options (Independence/Liberty/Poinsettia)

^ this...add Army football, UMass all-sports.

North: Army, Navy, UConn, UMass, Temple, ECU, Cincy
South: UCF, USF, Houston, SMU, Tulsa, Tulane, Memphis.

(no basketball divisions, but having UConn, Cincy, Memphis, Temple, UMass, Tulsa, SMU, Houston, etc will make for a damn good basketball conference)

Yup. Saves us the time of going to their board. Our posters are so kind to save us the extra "point and click".

Not to mention that many of the North Texas and Tech ladies would need smelling salts if they read that thread over there.

Not that it means anything, but Boys and Girls Club and the United Way received donations in the name of USM this month. Sorry if it sounds catty, but it was easier to support USM and UofM when they were in the same conference. Here's hoping it happens again soon. 04-cheers Oh and UAB too! Gotta spread love where I spend hubby's $.
