American Athletic Conference men's basketball tournament coming to Hartford in 2015.

For things to do, lots of old Colonial towns, Yankee culture, and 25 minutes up the road you'll find the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Wonderful news. With the 30 Million going into renovations this offseason, the place should look fairly decent, and the roof should be gaurenteed to not collapse again.

I think that is the right move. UConn is the defending national champion and should be one of the favorites to win the league. Memphis on the other hand might be rebuilding and had the tournament in 2014. Puts the tournament in direct competition with the Big East too.

Great News. Hartford is not as bad as its reputation suggests. Visitors generally give positive reviews after spending a few days in town. It's the locals who like to complain more than anyone else. This will be one of the bigger events Hartford has hosted in some time. I'd say this is bigger than the BE Women's tourney that we held for a few consecutive years and did a good job with hosting.

Makes perfect sense to have it in Hartford. I'd have UCONN as either the favorite or co-favorite to win the league with SMU, they are one of the better drawing teams, and they are the defending national champs.

Would UConn fans rather the tournament be held in Hartford occasionally or at MSG every year?

As long as people are told where to go ahead of time, they should be fine.

Basketball Hall of Fame, Yale University, West Hartford for restaurants and entertainment, colonial sites and towns like Old Wethersfield, Silas Dean House, Mystic, Mohegan and Foxwoods Casinos, Mark Twain's Home in Hartford, Whitfield House (one of the oldest built homes in America, 1629).

MSG, every year, not even close to a debate.

.....which do you think?01-wingedeagle

Shoot I miss MSG right now!! Will always remember those days. But being able to host a conference tournament in your own backyard is a GREAT consolation prize.

Hit up Pepe's Pizza - best in the world.

My first solid food was a Pepe's crust!

There are tons of great restaurants Downtown too and there is a movie theater, Spotlight Theatres, on Front Street across from the convention center. The Wadsworth Antheneum, and CT Science Center are also both in that area. The Wadsworth is the oldest public art museum in the nation and they have an extremely impressive collection.

We have two Pepe's in greater Hartford now too! One in West Hartford the other in Manchester. However, nothing beats the original in New Haven.

Great news! I thought Hartford had a very good chance. Good to see it happen. I'll be attending every conference tourney game next year like I did the women's tournament at Mohegan Sun this year.

The American is a metropolitan league -- rotate the tournament among the key cities: Hartford, Memphis, Philly, Cincinnati, Orlando, Tampa and Houston. Do the same for the women's conference.
