Big Grin UCF to announce QB on Monday
After hard fought spring practices between a sophomore, rs freshman and true freshman (early entry) GOL finally seems ready to announce the starter for Ireland on Monday. Although due to his prior reputation....who knows....he is known to troll even his own fan base. Using the spring game as the gage, Justin Holman (sophomore and Blake's backup last year) will take control of the team over the summer. Not much tape of him in college, but he is 6'4 and very athletic. Look at UCF UCONN tape for last year. Perhaps the two biggest hits by a runner in the AAC last year are from UCF's new QB/RB pair.

Believe what GOL said was that he will name a starter for summer camp (start practice on July 30th) and competition for the QB spot (and all the other positions) will resume.

He is not naming a starter for the Penn State Game in Ireland...but yes, one QB does seem well ahead of the other 2 as of now.

Of course, Nick Patti (transfer from Boise St...who is walking on at UCF and will be eligible this fall) will enroll during Summer A...but he will obviously start out as the #4 QB when camp starts...but ya never know what will happen come late August/Sept.

The person named will get 90% of the first team reps (just like Blake and Godfrey before him). It will be very tough for anyone currently enrolled to surpass that person, much less a guy who isn't even practicing. At a certain point the fanbase needs to be realistic. GOL does not want a freshman or first year QB, so barring injury if Holman is announced he will be the starter in Ireland.

GOL said that one has separated himself, I've got to believe given Saturday's outcomes he meant Holman.

True...but Holman has just 75 yds passing during his short college career..so its not like he has a boat load of experience vs the others.

Holman right now has performed the best over the past 3-4 weeks..and yes, will most likely start the game in Dublin but hopefully 1 or 2 other QB's will be at the ready...in case Justin doesn't perform well and/or gets knocked out of a game.

I don't care who you are, no one names a starter for the season on April 15th. This is pointless, the competition will continue until August 28th.

Yep. If he announces a #1 it will likely be to provide a report card to all the QBs and maybe provide some motivation.

GOL always does it this way. He is old and stuck in his ways. He has said since Blake declared for the draft in January that this week was D-Day. He knows whom ever he selects will NEED to be given more reps than the rest combined for us to compete like we did last year.

I understand that but most coaching staffs let it play out through training camp unless one candidate is clearly so far ahead of the rest. Now what happens if one truly outperforms the guy he already announced. It's just odd, imo, to name starter this early. There's no need yet. Let it play out. The number one will make himself known by opening week.

Won't find many UCF fans that would argue with you. Though declaring a #1 earlier does give that QB more snaps in training camp I guess.

They all looked pretty bad at the Spring game. I've never seen so many passes to receivers' shoes before.

Exactly. Frankly, I think too much is being made this. Whoever the #1 guy is will start off #1 in the fall, but that doesn't mean he'll stay there. I don't think there is tremendous separation between Holman and Dinovo. When fall camp start, Dinovo will have every opportunity to win the job (or Tyler Harris, but he's a pretty distant 3rd, IMO). May the best man win.

What was the big announcement that GOL promised on Signing Day?

Obviously it wasn't 'that' big else we would have heard by now....

There was no announcement. It was just GOL's way to pique interest in the spring game. Pretty dumb ploy, IMO. All he did was annoy the people who DID show up expecting to hear a "big announcement."

RE: UCF to announce QB on Monday
There was a decent sized announcement that they are putting a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) into the stadium so cell phone service for certain carriers with LTE's using the primary bands (AT&T and Verizon predominantly) will be much better. This is supposedly the same type system that just went into Disney and has had great reviews.

Maybe not a big deal to other schools but for UCF this is a pretty big deal. I always love going into a game and coming out 4 hours later to 20 text messages and 10 emails that could have been handled at half time and between quarters.
