JSU would be a good addition(IMHO) if the SBC didn't already have two members in your state.

I don't think that would be a benefit for the SBC, but it is not unheard of. UL, LTU, and UNO were int he belt at the same time. Then LTU left and we got the Hoax and that kinda sucks. UNO due to lots of things had to leave. I never saw three as being a big problem a little bit small time for a small state like Louisiana, but UL, UNO, and LTU were often the top three.

We would be a great add for the sbc. We were long time rivals with troy st. and have an budding rivalry with Ga St. Which is only 100 miles down I 20. We are in the Bham media market. We play sbc schools already in almost every other sport. We are definately in the sbc footprint and would lessen travel expense for everyone except App st.

Surprised he said that about our baseball. GSU baseball is a good addition to the Belt for traditions sake. But, under this regime we won't ever win 30 games in the Belt. Clements is nice except that huge eye sore and safety hazard of an outfield wall. Cannot fathom how a D1 team plays with a chain link outfield wall covered with a mosquito net.

Gathering from what most of you other guys think about him, maybe he doesn't quite have the vision to see the truth in that.

But, we are no Boise. They don't have near the potential of Georgia Southern!

It wasn't meant as a knock on you guys. He just (in his history of talking about teams) claims everyone has the pieces to be the next Boise.

Not really a legit travel partner for App though, unlike EKU, Liberty or JMU. If anything, you guys are convenient for Ga. State.

I dont see there is a large difference. The distance from boone, NC to ga st, ga so, and Jax st. Is only 300 - 400 miles. Anyone playing app st could easily bus to any one of these three schools.

I'm surprised Jax State has dropped off the radar. With this quest to add a team in the East, and all the issues we've had with the Virginia schools, it seems they could be a compromise pick.

three hundred miles is a little more than a convent bus ride.

Louisiana only has two trips under 400 miles. Usa and ulm. The rest are 400 plus miles.

300 - 400 miles is a pretty common trip for schools in any conference

Just think, if your App, you have to drive past either UTC or GSU to get to JSU. I think for now the Gamecocks are all dressed up and nowhere to go. You could give the SoCon a call, maybe Samford and the Mocs can put in a good word. Otherwise have a happy OVC life.

I'm always surprised when JSU gets brought up. Other than their football and softball stadiums, they are not close to moving up. They also need a new locker room that can dress two FBS teams.

The purpose is not for app to have a team to play its for the other teams in the sbc east to have a team to play near app st.

as far as the socon goes the ovc is now a lot better conference than whats left there.

Ga st. 300 miles perhaps app doesnt need a travel partner. 18 miles further than jmu 30 miles further than eku. And 76 further than liberty.

A new locker room would be a fairly minor addition. They could be easily replaced while renovating or building a new arena.

Then why look to Virginia ?
You guys built a nice stadium, 24,000 seats worth. Your way inside the footprint, If y'all were seriously considered don't you think JSU would have an invite by now ?
I think, and this is not meant as disrespect to your school, that your program is a few years behind the curve on reclassification and either Troy or USA is gonna have to move on before we see the Gamecocks in the SBC. By then, if ever GSU(State) will have moved on as well. Heck given that State may have by then, acquired Turner field, and converted it, improved their product, they're a potential ripe plum. Then there is the possibility of a 30,000 student KSU Owls program running right past you guys.
Maybe UTC and JSU move up together at some point, I think that is feasible, but there will have to be another pole shift in realignment to facilitate that.
Maybe if we were to lose three or four western division programs, like ASU, NMSU, Texas State, and UL-L, then the SBC might take a necessary eastern shift with JSU, EKU, UTC, and Liberty.
All good schools, worthy IMO, but for various reasons, not favored.
