RE: Nike CAN Make Our Offical Shade of Blue!!
If EVERY Dodger shirt was that color blue, he would have a point. Since they are not, he doesn't.

Why he feels the need to attack this same windmill over and over, I haven't the slightest idea!?!! How he can't take the factual information presented by numerous people that work in that industry, haven't a clue!?!!! BUT, how it escapes him that in our own university listing of the brand standard it ONLY APPLIES TO PRINTED DOCUMENTS just shows that his reading comprehension is VERY limited!!!!!

Yes, I do. The point is that contrary to what some have been saying, Nike not only CAN, but already DOES produce fabrics in PMS 280 blue (at least much closer than they provide UofM).

Because the problem is important and has yet to be corrected.

Are you referring to those who are so shallow that they don't think it is important or those who say Nike cannot produce fabric closer to PMS 280 blue than Calipari/Nike/Winn blue?

My reading comprehension is fine. The limitation we have is your incapcity to understand (or to care about) the obvious (and well-documented) advantages of consistency.

If EVERY Dodger shirt was that color, you would have a point. But, since they aren't, you really don't.

Once again, your "brand standard" point holds ZERO merit. ZERO!!!!
It is about printing, which the University DOES hold to, but not about colors of uniforms. Sorry, but I will take the word of people that produce clothing for a living that say it is impossible to consistently hit that level of blue. You have not compaigned for consistently "closer" to "brand standard" but rather saying ALL things should be THAT color.

On a personal note, I happen to like our current colors much more than the darker navy shade, so I will never complain when we DON'T use the printed colors for uniforms.

Name ONE way that "problem" is important!?!!

It is a well documented marketing axiom that consistent color usage contributes to a stronger brand. As our athletic department continues to ignore the university brand colors (which were not only recommended by professionals, but meet the intent of the Class of 1912), we fail to maximize brand potential.

I think he's right. Florida State said they were tired of it and cracking down. Its important to them and they seem to think something can be done about it. We will see. Try making something for Corporate America with the wrong shade and see what happens. Do you see a lot of variation in Coca Cola red?

but he's not right. There is no official shade like he's talking about. Now, if down the road the school decides to try to implement one and push it out to vendors and merchandisers, that's a completely different story.

In regards to the Corporate America portion, I definitely don't see a lot of variation in Coke red, in terms of commercials, cartons, print ads, etc... In terms of apparel? Of course. But again, this goes back to economies of scale. The largest soda manufacturer in the world with millions and millions of consumers can more easily demand accuracy much more than a merchandiser of a specific area for a specific university which as a whole only has thousands and thousands of consumers, meaning that individual merchandiser's consumers are in the hundreds. Extreme difference in buying power.
