It was not only uncomfortable, but it was downright dangerous for some fans. The lack of free water under those circumstances was unconscionable. None of the concessions I ran to even had water for these seriously-ill people. The Liberty Bowl needs to plan better if these games are again held in bad heat.

I am all for your sentiment, but there IS free water at the Liberty Bowl. Water fountains are at every bathroom entrance in the concourse.

RE: Spring Game
The Mississippi State game in 2000 was hotter. It was over 100 at kickoff. BUT, the LB let you bring in coolers and drinks.

At the media day event last year, I had to bum a cup of ice from one of the concession vendors, as I had no cash, but I was in pretty bad shape. We were in the sun for the whole Duke game and it wasn't quite as bad. Of course everyone in our group was pretty much done after the game.

I personally think the Friday night idea was a great one.

In an emergency, you can dip it out of the toilets as well.

You are so correct. I misspoke. What I meant to say was "ice." That is what those people needed, and there was none. And the reason is that the concessions had sold out of it for cold drinks due to the heat.
And I didn't mean to imply I singlehandedly helped these people. I was just a small part of some people trying to get help. The paramedics had their hands full that day. I was just helping two people on the west side of the stadium. And it sure put the whole game in perspective when you see people on the verge of death for no good reason.

RE: Spring Game
I saw a case of what I thought was heat illness --- where a lady nearly passed out. No medical person but from some experience this looked like not drinking enough water which causes your blood pressure to drop.
