Football stadium rent
That $35k per game we pay looks pretty good compared to what Temple is currently paying ($1.8 Million per season) and looks VERY good compared to what the Eagles want them to pay...

We are so lucky here. We have incredibly sweetheart deals with the Liberty Bowl and FEF. As for Temple, wonder if Franklin Field is still around.

RE: Football stadium rent
we essentially play at FedExForum for free:

we pay 10k per game
All seat ticket revenue and broadcast rights go to the University of Memphis
as long as Memphis averages over 10,000...the Grizzlies pay an $800,000 "performance bonus"
The university will keep 100% of revenue from club boxes for its games

Grizz get parking, food, signage, the 10k rent per game, and all other "box seat" revenue.

we really do get "sweetheart deals" on our facilities...no NCAA team has a deal like that with an NBA franchise.

While I agree we spend less, you paint a roasier picture than reality. Our BASE rent is $35k. Then you have $50k per game of concession sales off the top, so now you are up to $85k per game. No parking income. 85x 7= 595k per year.

It is, but their current deal runs through 2017...plenty of time to figure out what they're going to do. (like an OCS)

I wouldn't be surprised to see Temple try and put pressure on the Eagles from Philly govt and wealthy Temple alums...

Not at the moment. I'm on tiger lane on a phone. I'll just tell you, it's in the lease agreement signed by sherry lipman. I saw the actual document.

Interesting. Fascinating. Scintillating. Outstanding.

That might actually ruin some of those age old agendas that 2 or 3 on here have.

It wasn't a one year contract...so what's your point?

our contract with FedExForum was signed in 2004...since it's a 20 year contract...it's still the same today.

Your concession claim is flawed because you think it cost us off the top.
But Tigers do not pay the COST of running the concession. We are not out a dome if there is a thunder storm and no one shows up and concessions sales are below the cost of operations. the concession dollars do not exist until the concessions are sold. ANY money we get from concessions are 100% profit. It is house money. Even if libertybowl got 100% of the concession is is not costing the Tigers a dime.

I bet temple drops football in ten years and joins the big east as a basketball school. They simply can't afford football given they cut 7 sports

Pretty sure that was a function to allocate more funds towards revenue sports such as football.

I compare our situation to 95% of the rest of college football, that being, on-campus stadium where you get ALL the concession profits. Not all the profits minus the first $50,000 per game.

Here is the previous agreement. See section 8 (b). I hope now you see that when I reference something, I know what I'm talking about.

You also PAY 100% of the cost of operating the concessions. Concessions do not just appear out of mid air. Someone has to pay for the food and the workers to operate the concessions. You seem to only want to look at the income part of the equation without acknowledging there is an output part. You cannot open the doors of the concession for less than $45,000.
