Me too. Would rather be OC, but there's nothing wrong with the stadium other than location.
It's 2.1 miles from the main campus...ask UCLA or UMass fans and they'll tell you 2 miles is nothing.
You just don't get it, do you. It has nothing to do with distance. If it requires a student to get in a car, and if it does not get alumni back on the literal campus where they went to classes, then it fails to promote the University in any traditional sense. We continue to be viewed as a commuter school, and no connection is made to encourage alumni giving.

We are a commuter University MOST of our student do not live on campus and would have to get in car to go to an OCS. Really reaching to the bottom of the barrel to support your position. If they did build an OCS where the rest of the athletic facilities are located it will not get the alumni back on the main campus either. Your argument is very weak.

Yes, we are a commuter school.
And once you graduate, there is no reason to ever commute there again. The only thing to come back to campus for is a parking ticket.
That's why we have virtually no alumni support.
Drive away after the last final, and never look back.
You won't even graduate on campus.

Southwest is a commuter school. We are a hybrid at best.

as long as Memphis averages over 10,000...the Grizzlies pay an $800,000 "performance bonus"
The university will keep 100% of revenue from club boxes for its games
Grizz get parking, food, signage, the 10k rent per game, and all other "box seat" revenue.
we really do get "sweetheart deals" on our facilities...no NCAA team has a deal like that with an NBA franchise.
Interesting. Fascinating. Scintillating. Outstanding.
That might actually ruin some of those age old agendas that 2 or 3 on here have.
Good luck with that one. Lol

To those who said that isn't higher than at many other Division 1 stadiums, I say those aren't selling tickets for only $10 a game (sometimes $5). While UofM is pratically giving tickets away trying to build crowd support, the city has decided to raise parking by 50%. Not exactly what I call cooperation and support.
Nobody is forcing you to park at Tiger line. Ever take Econ 101?

The rest of the athletic facilities are on the South Campus and that's just as far away as the Liberty Bowl.
Having a stadium on campus would be great, but until then, call me when they break ground.

The only significant on-campus event that most Memphis' students have in common is Freshman orientation.
We start losing them at day one.

$12 million a year can build a $100 million stadium of their own.
