Exactly

It's not Blazertalk. It's al.com that quoted the UAB AD.

I don't think there is anything to it. Mackin is saying there is mutual interest, but that could just mean that someone at Memphis took his call.

RE: Resuming series with UAB?
I'm in the minority, but I am okay with this. However, a H/H is not in our best interests. Some memory of former conference mates might be a good idea, but since we are in a good bargaining position, we should make this on our terms.

H x2 / A x1?
H x1 / N x1?

BTW, I am in favor, but understand the RPI schematics. We don't gain with a win and UAB, while not great is not a RPI helping buy game that will give us an easy RPI bump. So, while I am in favor (I consider UAB a rival still), I understand that my view is a minority view and certainly ok with not moving forward.

I would be okay with a H/H with USM or a 2-1 / 1H-1N with UAB.

Otherwise, I have little interest in scheduling the remaining teams at this point. Not a diss towards any program, but the gains for our program would be too small.

UAB/USM are tough to schedule b/c they are not good enough to get credit for the win, but not bad enough where it is an easy win. The only reason I would be in favor is fond memories of rivalries past.

The other remaining CUSA squads don't have that built in time line (if you wish to include UTEP, I can accept that argument). Not a diss, but I am not interested in playing H/H with FAU, FIU, MTSU, etc.

I'm all for playing UAB in Tupelo to get our NCAA Credit $$$ back from CUSA...MUCH better than playing Jackson State or Nicholls State. (Or MTSU in Nashville could work)

But I wouldn't do a home-home

I am in favor of a home and home series with UAB (Bartow Classic) because it provides an opportunity to honor a man important to both programs, raises money for cancer research, improves RPI better than playing a low-major squad, and is a fun road trip.

RE: Resuming series with UAB?
UAB had a 130 rpi ranking, we had a 30 rpi ranking. If we are going to play CUSA, play USM that was ranked just ahead of us in rpi. Would still rather play any number of power 5 conference schools with high rpi (in top 100) simply because they pass the eye test by tourney committee considerations where CUSA gets no respect, even USM with a 29 rpi ranking. Otherwise schedule Pac, B12 or B1G lower level schools with relatively good rpi.

Reasonable counter argument.

I am in favor of the game, but can definitely see why the game is a bad idea in RPI / scheduling competitiveness.

I can definitely see this idea gaining steam if UAB can rebound to former levels of quality they haven't seen recently.

The only time I enjoy anything about Birmingham is when/if I go through there on the way to Destin. Which I haven't in a long time.

Birmingham's not a bad town at all, lots to do there imho, though I think Memphis has done a better job in revitalizing or stabilizing many areas--downtown/midtown, etc.

Memphis for all its numerous problems and faults appears to me to have many more civic and community leaders who care about the city, and put up the money.

I get the venom towards UAB, but why Birmingham??? The city has come a long way in 10 years and with so many things on the horizon for the city, Birmingham's future is very bright.

He has no reason to blow bubbles to his customers. Renewing the series is really a no-brainer for many reasons. But if it doesn't happen UAB fans aren't going to say "Oh Hellz Knaw" and jump off a bridge...lol.

the only reasonable explanation I see is that the UAB AD enjoys watching Blazer fans suffer
