Are you sorry you left the AAC?
The current Big East ie Catholic basketball schools went nowhere in the NCAA tournament. Did not even get to the Sweet Sixteen. An AAC university U Conn is now the national champion. Unbelievable that you would leave perennial powers like U Conn,Cincinnati,Memphis and up and coming SMU under Larry Brown. You made a major mistake in leaving as you all now know.

RE: Are you sorry you left the AAC?
I'm not a Big East guy... but that's totally ridiculous. NCAA Tournament performance validates nothing.
The Atlantic Sun isn't better than the ACC because Mercer beat Duke.
The Ivy isn't better than the American because Harvard beat Cincinnati.
It's one game on one day, and the parity in college basketball is insane. It's so insane that those upsets above can happen; that VCU can beat Virginia, but lose to Stephen F. Austin. That Syracuse can beat Duke, but not Boston College; that UConn can lose by 30 to Louisville, almost lose to Saint Joe's in the round of 64 and still win a title.
UConn was better than their opponent in one game, six games in a row. Everyone else in the tournament was 5 or less games. The end.

Hilarious. It's like ECU and Tulane can't stop themselves from taking credit for a UConn win.

When looking at things in the context of a single game, I agree with your point that it is one game on one day and upsets can happen. However, I don't think that I agree in regards to a team stringing multiple "upsets" together when they are convincingly beating top teams.
UConn had to go through St. Joe's, Villanova, Iowa State, Michigan State, Florida, and Kentucky to win the national title. Those last five teams are a murderer's row of teams and UConn beat them convincingly - these were not buzzer beater wins. Those five teams were all ranked in the top 15 (most of them in the top 10) for most of the season. UConn was a team that just didn't put it all together for large parts of the season. However, they gelled when it mattered and proved that they were no fluke.
In the end, UConn didn't pull upsets at all. UConn dominated those teams.

Catholicism is the predominant Christian practice at SMU

Kentucky also beat 3 of last years final four to get to Dallas. Neither Kentucky nor UConn were even in the 2013 tournament. Pretty Amazing to say the least. Well done Huskies.

I wasn't suggesting UConn winning was a fluke.
NCAA seeds are based on how you perform against your schedule. But how you perform against your schedule doesn't really tell anything about how GOOD you actually are. It's how GOOD you DID against the teams you played.
(And more ridiculous factors than that. Virtually all of the RPI is dependent on how your conference performed as a group OOC. UConn, Louisville, and Memphis got undervalued for the performance of USF, UCF, Temple, Houston and Rutgers, which is total lunacy).
The perfect example is Wichita State. They clearly performed against their schedule better than anyone else, so got the #1 seed they deserved… and yet everyone felt Louisville, Florida, Michigan State, etc were the favorites and Wichita State was a long-shot to win the title.
UConn was a damned good team, picked much higher in preseason than their seed.
