Warren Nolan predicted final SB baseball standings
After today's games here is how Nolan predicts the Belt to end up in baseball

Louisiana 27-3 (50-6 overall)
Ark St. 19-11 (31-23 overall)
WKU 19-11 (33-23 overall)
Texas St. 17-13 (31-24 overall)
South Alabama 13-16 (25-28 overall)
Troy 11-18 (26-29 overall)
Texas Arlington 12-18 (21-33 overall)
Georgia St. 11-19 (24-32 overall)
ULM 11-19 (21-34 overall)
UALR 9-21 (24-32 overall)

In the SoCon Ga. Southern is predicted to be 16-11 (38-19 overall) and App. St. is predicted to be 12-14 (21-32 overall)

If these are correct this year if Louisiana wins the tourney it may be a stretch to see a 2nd team getting in. I think if Ga. Southern was a member there would be a fairly good chance of them being a 2nd team.

My thought is the Cajuns should lose in the conference tourney for the good of the league.

I hear this all the time and its nonesense! First, if your program is on a current losing streak at conference tournament time, then it would not be in its best interest to lose period. Second, if the conference has to depended upon your regular season champion losing to get another team in the NCAA's, it speaks volumes as to the qualitiy of the sport in our conference that year.

Nothing is given, but should UL remain in the Top 10 and another program knocks the Cajuns out of the SBC Tournament, I can live with that. But for UL, securing a Regional far outweighs what is good for the league. The league needs to get better and the resposibilty doesn't fall on the shoulders of the champion.

I don't want anyone to throw anything. It might be better for the conference to get a second team in, but really... if this second team needs the Cajuns to throw a game, then they aren't going to make it far anyway.

Now keep in mind, I am assuming that the Bobcats are not the ones that the Cajuns are throwing it for. If it ends up being the Bobcats, YOU BETTER FREAKING THROW IT FOR US!

Depends on how you look at it. If you guys are really 50-6 heading into the tourney...you'd have a regional and National Seed pretty much locked up. In that case...there is no way your coach would throw one of your top pitchers in say...the championship game on Sunday. You'll throw your three weekend guys once each, and let the rest of the staff figure out any other games you play.

I am not actually suggesting you guys should lose intentionally...I was kidding on that. Though I do think you would be foolish to throw your best pitcher for 175 pitches or something in a crazy run to try and win what will be a meaningless tourney for you guys.

This is a down year for the league. Combination of Troy and USA have a lost a ton of players, and most other programs dealing with a lot of youth. We go through it every few years.

RE: Warren Nolan predicted final SB baseball standings
Yea, I get it, but there seems to be a lot of chatter from the Red Wolves fans about UL NOT going to NOLA Bowl for the good of the league, and now lose for the good of the league. I would prefer Red Wolves fans talking about their three SBC tittles in football instead of constantly undermining our current success with little jabs.

I do not subscribe to that kind of thinking period. I thought it was absolutely wonderful that Southern Miss knocked UH out of a BCS game. If UH deserved a BCS game they should have not collapsed. UL is looking to advance as far as possible and losing a championship and potential seeding is not the way to do it. If you win it good for you, too bad for us.

ArkStateFan said it best:

"The gauntlet is thrown. Schools can sit around and wait for ULL to slump and sink back closer to the median, or can go hard to chase them."

And geeze whats with all the hate for UL on the stAte board? Holy cow... Really?

As I said, nothing is a given. If UL is one the last teams on the table to host a regional, then it is far better for the conference that UL focus on winning and not sitting starters. In that case, it would be much better for the conference to have one regional host team, rather then two regional participants, one being mediocre with less than 40 wins. I understand the money, but its not that great for baseball.

If UL is a lock to host a regional, than I have no problem with Coach Robichaux resting a few arms for a regional. In fact, he did so this past weekend with his own son, sitting our #1 starter against Troy. He clearly is taking nothing for granted right now and that is the way he should play this season out. Anything less is selling his staff, athletes and supporters out for the good of the conference.
