First FBS win
Which FBS team will Georiga St, Georiga Southen, and App St beat first?

App St has USM early but on the road. They don't have their first home game against a FBS team until 10/4 against USA.

Georgia Southerns first home game is agaisnt App St, which I won't count because its a transition team. So 10/11 vs Idaho is a great chance. NCST would be awesome though and kick it off in style.

Georgia St has a good chance 9/6 vs NMSU.

Very true. But I doubt they make the same mistake twice. I hope y'all make it 2-0 against them but this isn't Moore and AEs App St. I'll never forget following that game.

GSU either (NMSU or Air Force) I could see a L on both those however
GS I would say USA 10/18
App (Southern Miss or USA)

Why do people think USA is going to be a pushover this year? I'm expecting a hard fought game in Mobile this year for TROY...

Hoping for a sink hole.

Honestly could care less as most of my instate venom is reserved for UGA.

I think Troy has the bigger adjustment to make this year truthfully. USA's schedule is not as favorable as a few others, which is why I think some believe they may fall a bit.

I think we can beat USA on our home field as our first official FBS home opponent. That doesn't mean that I see them as a pushover. It will be an electric atmosphere and we have more talent than our overall record proved last year.

Why do you think for Georgia Southern or App State to beat one of the current Sun Belt teams, that the other team must be a pushover?

I think one thing for GS that helps them is the type of offense they run. When you don't see that offense that often it can be tough to prepare for.

Actually, not as big as you may think. A 6'7" Jr QB (only one w/ FB$ experience) that's been red-shirted, A 6'2" RS Frosh that's been gray-shirted, a la CRob...the QB from the NJCAA Championship team...and the QB from the 2nd place juco team. All the RBs are back...03-2thumbsup

Its a non-Sun Belt poster who made that prediction.

That being said, we get a bit of the nasty on the schedule. We play at App in their FBS home opener (they play Ga Southern on the road 5 days before we go to Boone). Its a classic trap game but we should still win the game.

Do you think any of those guys could ever equal Corey Robinson, who single handedly kept you in some games the last few years?

Hate to break it to you but App plays GaSo 9 days before playing USA in Boone. (September 25 to October 4th)

I think Troy has the bigger adjustment to make this year truthfully. USA's schedule is not as favorable as a few others, which is why I think some believe they may fall a bit.

We won 6 games last year. I think that if you look at our schedule

@App, GaSo, GaSt, Troy, @ULL, @Ark State, @Idaho, Tex State should provide us with 6 games where we would be either favored or even money. If we don't stumble, 6 conference wins assumes we hold serve at home and win at App and Idaho. Not seeing much crazy with that prediction. Then we have our OOC schedule (@Kent, Navy, Miss State, @So Carolina). We should beat Kent and should have a decent shot with Navy.

So, I'm thinking 7 to 8 wins and 5 to 6 conference wins plus a bowl would be the most likely outcome. A good season would be 6-2 in conference and 8-4 overall. And while I don't think we'll be favored in Lafayette or Jonesboro or against Mississippi State at home, none of those games would be 'end the world' upsets.

That assumes 3 road wins. But I think we can pull that one off. And beat Troy.

A 6-2 conference record would guarantee a 3rd place finish, which is where the most optimistic punters are predicting. A 5-3 record would probably get us there too.

Our schedule does us no favors. But it is manageable.

Yeah, no way you guys are favored against ULL or ASU unless things change significantly before the game is played.

Getting Texas State and Troy at home is a big help for the Jags, but ultimately its going to come down to whether or not they can win in the two hardest places in the SBC to win.
