RE: Parking Situation on SBC Campuses
Pal, I grew up in a virtually all black neighborhood, I worked daily in the NOLA neighborhoods, the entire city 70% African American both good and bad. Your supposedly superior knowledge is not needed. By the way, I also worked Atlanta a lot, and daily news headline, body fond here, there, everywhere especially in the Kudzu surrounding almost all of the interstate system.

Daily stories of bodies found.

It was on track until the hot sauce express decided to derail it.

If you don't mind a 5-10 min walk you can park for free just about anywhere, not to mention we have shuttles running from most of those parking lots if the 100 degree heat and gnats are too much for you. :)

A typical response and I guess I echo Tom's response. We know that a lot of people equate urban and non-white with unsafe and since Atlanta is largely both there must be bodies turning up just because you say so.

Rated 6th most dangerous by Forbes

Of course Little Rock makes most of these lists and the simple fact is there isn't a lot of crime in Little Rock except inside the triangle formed by I-630, I-30 and I-430 and even then there are plenty of places I'd walk alone at night and not think twice about it inside there.

ASU had $10 parking in the field down from the stadium on the home side...AVOID it! park for free at the basketball arena and it will/could be a closer walk. If you get there early they will direct you to the back of the lot. I don't know if it's legal but if you find a open spot you can pull right off the road onto the grass. There are some pay lots off E Johnson Rd also.

UL-L free parking at the basketball arena and a easy walk under the tunnel to the visitor side

Texas St we used handicap parking and parked in the lot right beside the stadium on the visitor side cost us $10. There are other lots by the stadium and across the street by the rail road tracks

USA will scare the crap out of some people because of the neighborhood. Pay no attention to it because you and your car will be safe. If you have a handicap pass you can park in the lot right by the stadium. My wife had to stay at the hotel because her back was hurting so I didn't feel right about using it. We parked for $5 about two blocks away in a lot with a guard. There's a ton of houses that open their yards for parking...mostly $10 close to the stadium.

GSU was $5 right across from the stadium in a private lot. You can park in the event lot for $10 but it's a farther walk

Troy was a pay lot but I can't remember the cost I'm going to say $5 and it was a long walk

Ladd's supposedly bad neighborhood is way overblown. Its working class and not-white. That doesn't mean its some anachronism from some gang movie. I've never heard of any crime of any kind that has happened to any patron or their vehicle attending an event at Ladd. People walk to nighttime events there. Its two blocks from a good neighborhood and five blocks from a very nice and expensive neighborhood. Ladd is not Legion Field. Basically, unless you are handicapped, you have to pay to park. Either 5 or 10 bucks. I usually grab some barbeque from the people having cookouts on their front yard to sell to passers-by. Its not complicated there. And the parking usually is really quite convenient. You just are parking in someones front yard instead of in a lot. That being said, if you stay on the North Side of the stadium, its not as jarring to those expecting an (ahem) suburban outside the stadium experience. The people who rent out their lawns as parking want people to come back and park in their yard. Your car is probably safer in their yard than it would be in a traditional stadium parking lot.

At Texas State you have to pay for football. I think we paid 10 bucks.

On our first game trip to USA my wife and I took a cab to the stadium. After the game we were still at the stadium way after the game and in fact after the team bus had left. We probably waited an hour for a cab. At no point did I feel like I was in some dangerous neighborhood or that it was not safe.

I agree with both of you. From what I read on this forum I was expecting a lot worse. What I saw was a working class neighborhood and homes about like where I grew up. With one difference....

we had a outhouse till I was 5 years old.

I guess we each draw from our own experiences in life and I feel comfortable in all walks of life.

Maroon - Donor Parking
Blue - $10 Parking

Bobcat Alley, the student tailgate, takes up most of the blue parking lot between the stadium and the bus stop. That parking lot usually fills up a few hours before kickoff. Other than that, there are 10 parking garages on campus that are free on weekends, there is some free parking by the baseball/softball complex, there is free parking on city streets near the stadium, there is some free parking at Bobcat Village (on-campus apts across the street from the stadium), etc.

Unless otherwise directed or organized by your school, visiting teams should set up their tailgates in the $10 lot as to be by the stadium and the rest of the action. You will be treated well.

Slycat mentioned that visiting tailgates are set up on west campus but that was only for Texas Tech since they wanted to set up "Raidergate" which involved taking up a lot of room.

Yea taking cabs in Mobile can be a bit time consuming. You're better off just renting a car.
