2. Do you like playing the big name teams? Or do you hate it because you lose to them(not trying to make fun) and wished you played someone else?

Hate playing big name teams like Number9 Pitt a few years back, or Navy or Cinci or Purdue because we always lose....Oh, wait...

And yeah, our AD is very good but I gotta scratch my head over Miami and Missouri. Incredible scheduling job. I'll believe we get Miami at home when I see then run on the field but it will be a nice payout if they cancel.

Rockets gave Mizzou all they could handle. A couple of UT errors were the real difference in the game. Rockets have a real good chance against the Tigers.

We hear excuses that our stadium isn't big enough. It's only about 4K less than Toledo's stadium, so if that's all it takes, we build on 4K seats and we're all set....if that was the real reason.

Or, Toledo's AD has blackmail material on lots of P5 schools' ADs.

The picture of Urban Meyer with Gordon Gee and the goat is priceless.

Since 2000 we've had; Arizona, Iowa State(W), UNLV(W), Wyoming, UC(W), Navy x2(WW), Boise State, Minnesota(W), Pitt(W), Fresno State, Kansas(W) and Purdue, with Iowa State, Mizzou, Miami, Navada, and Tulsa for future seasons.

Add Fresno State to the future schedules.

RE: Quick question (I think) on Glass Bowl
Not sure what the issue is with the fire marshall and the capacity of the stadium. I've been to the Big House a couple of times when enrolled there, and it is nearly impossible to get through the gates to get in or out very quickly - and the slow pace to get in was before 9/11. Getting out of that stadium after a game - forget it. I would assume when you get to SRO - then somehow the fire marshall gets involved. Doesn't make sense to me - so if I could be enlightened as to why that is a concern, I'm listening.

Our stadium is made of aluminum and concrete...nothing is catching on fire, and if it is the press boxes should be the only capacity problem.

Most of the concrete and aluminum is in/on the ground (lower deck), so a collapse danger is not that great.

RE: Quick question (I think) on Glass Bowl
glass bowl is a good size and with the big fairly modern press tower and unique gothic stonework feels legit as a stadium. the one problem is the mediocre lonely east side upper deck. if that was redone to have a sense of purpose and match the other elements of the stadium, the glass bowl would be classic stadium-it's still good as is.

as for scheduling, ut has done it for decades.

niu actually emerged as a national name and impact program by beating maryland at home behind michael turner, good defense and line play to open the season to a packed home stadium on national tv, i think it was a friday night when non-sat games were still a novelty. maryland was ranked at the time.

the univ of miami was scheduled to come to the glass bowl this yr but pushed it back due to changes in the acc schedule with its expansion. while they are a big name program, they aren't a huge budget program, often play at home to 30,000 or so and occasionally play at "mid major type" D1 programs. toledo went there to play them during one of their national champ yrs in the 80s and made a game of it, losing by 10 i think, coming up without points on a couple late drives into canes territory.

in addition to the nearly yearly "upset"of a known bcs type program toledo gets they also play well in many losses.

toledo had a first and 10 inside the 20 in the last 2 minutes down 5 to ohio st and couldn't punch it in. that was at their place. the rockets are respected as a team that can compete with anyone. they just cant seem to beat niu lately.

A Fire Marshal determines capacity based on egress path length, width, etc. It is all about getting people safely out of the building in reasonable amount of time. The reason for evacuation is moot and does not necessarily need to be a fire.

This could be rectified at the GB with opening and widening entrances/exits at both ends of the stadium.
The east grandstand at Huskie Stadium seats around 10,000. An upper deck like that would be perfect to replace the high school bleachers we presently have.

If I was a betting man, I would put money on Dr. Jacobs getting a plan approved for Glass Bowl renovation prior to his departure. It woudl be in line with another improvement to athletics every two years.
