How do Louisville fans feel?
UL blew out UConn THREE times this past season, even Vern Lundquist referred to the nationally televised game on CBS where UL won by about 35 points over the Huskies. Now, UL is about to watch the team they drilled three straight times in the Final Four with a chance to win it all. You guys had a great year, but that has to hurt just a little bit, no? (Nevermind Kentucky being there)

RE: How do Louisville fans feel?
We have just been to back to back final fours while winning a national title. Disappointing to see the season end in the Sweet 16. I'm proud of our run.

This tournament was all about matchups. The region and seed the committee paired us up with was complete garbage. As for UConn I hope they win the whole thing. No ill feelings towards them from Cardinal fans.

RE: How do Louisville fans feel?
As unfair as it is, teams are judged based on this tournament. UL is a horrible match up for UCONN due to Harrell this year.

UCONN beat SU twice the year they won the 2003 championship (the only one they got thanks to Carmelo Anthony). No one will remember UCONN for those wins. Most UCONN fans don't even care.

It is all about this tournament for men's basketball. Same for women's tournament. Regular season just does not mean as much.

RE: How do Louisville fans feel?
As someone else said, regions and matchups are a big factor. If KY had not been in our direct path so early I think we would have made the Elite 8, probably Final Four. And then that might have been the limit - didn't really expect to win it all -- it was possible but not very probable. Seeing UConn win is fine -- doesn't reflect badly on us -- if anything it reflects fine because we did beat them 3 times. If they do win it all that just gives a little more credit to those 3 wins of ours as being good wins instead of being overlooked by many as they were. I have great respect for Napier for sticking in there with his school when he could have bolted when others did. If the kid wins it all, good for him. He was a good competitor for 4 years and even though Siva seemed to get the best of him several times, he continued to grow and give his all. Can't ask for more than that.

Now for UK -- they are garbage. Those guys don't give a hoot about school, their fans, or the title for the sake of what it is supposed to mean. To them this is just showcasing themselves for the NBA draft and that paycheck. Shame they are getting by with bullying teams and charging into players and getting by with it. The refs are turning a blind eye to them in every game. I think WSU, UL and Michigan all know and agree we were ripped off but what are you going to do?

Louisville was manhandling almost everyone in the regular season... I had them going to the Final Four... I think the Manhattan game got the best of them.

I would love to see UConn holding the trophy at the end. Napier, Boatwright and the rest all seem like great guys. They deserve it.

UK on the other hand....they are everything that is wrong with the sport. All I'm going to say

Kentucky is starting to piss me off. I had Wichita going farther in the bracket, they cost the AAC money(UL was headed to the final four) and they beat one of my favorite teams in Michigan. I'm looking forward to them getting pounded by Florida again.

Did U Conn defeat the nations number one team Florida earlier in the year by one point? Should be a great rematch up!

RE: How do Louisville fans feel?
In the BE, how refs called games had a direct impact on teams' records. Pitt was always good in the BE because they always had older guys who looked like wrestlers. They would bump and grab you at every turn. This is why UCONN had trouble with Pitt, and to some extend UL, because the style they played and refs simply let them play. In the NCAA, where they call these things tighter, Pitt sucked for the most part because they can no longer manhandle people like they used to. UCONN's D is better designed for the NCAA and that's one of the reasons why we are the most successful team in the NCAA for the last 25 years.

I have Great respect for UConn and will be pulling for Them to Win it all. I also cheer for Florida as that was My Youthful First school I followed and dreamed of playing Football for when I lived in Florida so I still have 2 schools to cheer on to Beat Kentucky. BTW I actually attended Kentucky for a Year but Many UK Fans are the most radical fanatics that You just don't want to be around in person. Not All but Most.

RE: How do Louisville fans feel?
There's a reason why its called March Madness:

It's because the NCAA's is a 3 week tournament...which basically doesn't have much to do with the regular season...as its just a one and done tournament...and upsets happen quite frequently.

UCONN last won a national title when they were just .500 in conf play...but they got hot at the right time of the year.

That's why the TV networks are paying the NCAA Billions of $$ for TV rights...as the TOURNAMENT is the attraction...vs if these were "Playoffs" like in the NBA, were teams had to win 3 out of 5 or even 4 out of 7...odds are, most of the better teams would win series...vs the one and done format.

RE: How do Louisville fans feel?
Louisville just caught a really bad break. I think they probably handle Wichita State, but Kentucky finally started playing up to their talent level. With their record they deserved to be an 8 seed, but they are the most talented 8 seed ever.

UConn destroyed Syracuse 3 times in 2003 before Cuse won it all. UConn has had similar experiences in its championship years.

As a UConn fan, I can't say this means much to me. UConn had a chance in the Elite 8 against Texas that year, and couldn't overcome. It made them stronger for the next year when theydid win the national championship. I wouldn't dwell on this too much.

Please don't take this as an attack, but seeding and matchups are everything. The regular season counts a lot. Having an easier road in the NCAAT means everything. UConn had hugely talented teams with NBA hall of famers like Ray Allen, and teams with 7 first round draft picks like in 2006, all bow out because they didn't take care of business in the regular season. UConn lost 4 Elite 8s to teams that eventually won the championship (Maryland, Duke, UCLA, UNC). In short, the reg season is hugely important.

I happen to think UConn had an excellent regular season this year. Lost just 1 game OOC despite scheduling Florida, Maryland, Indiana, Harvard, Stanford, Washington. In 2011, everyone mentions UConn's 9-9 conference record, but people tend to forget the 24-0 record otherwise. They were 13-0 in the OOC against teams like Wichita St, Kentucky, Michigan St., Texas, etc. The difference was that in the BE, the refs didn't call fouls on Kemba's drives to the hoop. His shooting % dropped from high 40%s to high 30%s. That was a difference of 10 points a game.

Suddenly the postseason comes, and we get back the Kemba we saw during the 13-0 run. It made a world of difference. I assure you that the BE was such a brutal rough and tough league that all sorts of weird anomalies pop up, and you see this through the years with teams like Pitt floundering in the NCAAs, or Syracuse winning it all once out of the BE crucible, or Seton Hall advancing to the championship, 10 loss Villanova winning it all. The BE was kooky in that way.
