You know, I really wanted Masielo. I'm thinking if that degree requirement is just a school rule, maybe we should revisit that. After all, we're not hiring him to be a professor, we're hiring him to be a good coach. If we want to win, I think he was the guy.

Bull it was not just he didn't have the degree.....what happened after that was found out killed any chances at overlooking it and working a deal. Its water under the bridge

IIRC, I thought the offer was conditional on the background, we did the background and discovered the non-degree, and rescinded the offer. What happened 'after' that really killed it? Did he say or do something stupid?

Yes. And it was before it was rescinded

Doesn't look like they need to do anything about it...

Leon Rice of Boise State is also doing the same thing. He interviewed with Washington State and it looks like Boise will have to up his salary to keep him. Ditto for Craig Neal at UNM. So the MWC are having to spend money to keep their guys.

Not sure about UNM, but as far as I know, Leon Rice did not get a raise to stay at Boise State. He did talk to Washington State and turned them down flat.

Neal at UNM got 2 yr extension. No raise, still at 750k per year. He was offered 1.2 mil per yr at USF and declined offer
