That was set up when Brian Gregory was their coach, or am I mistaken?

Might have been, I don't remember. I believe or was the 1st or 2nd year in renovated Savage.

Yes, Stan arranged that home and home series with his former assistant, Brian Gregary before he was fired. Dayton played at Savage in Gene Cross's first season (the first at the new Savage).

To which Gregory stated, if he knew Stan wasn't going to be here, he would never have agreed to play at Toledo.

I know it won't happen and I am not even sure it should but if this is the only way to do it I would like to see the legislature pass a law (as it was done in Kentucky) to make OSU Dayton Cinci and Xavier have to play so many home and home series with the Ohio mac team or Cleveland st or wright state (possibly Youngstown state) because it is the right thing to do.

Dayton and Xavier are private schools.

Don't think the Legislature would pass any bill the OSU didn't endorse. There are to many OSU fans who care less about the MAC

The BIG had 3 of the Elite 8 this season, so they will continue to brag and care less for the MAC. It warms my heart that State and UM are done though. Now only 1 left, and I am rootin for Toledo native Nigel Hayes to get a championship!

RE: Men's Basketball Schedule Next Season
Been thinking about UT basketball this morning and started searching websites for information about the schedule. If I find anything other than what's posted below, I'll post that too.

I have no idea how accurate this is, but according to this site (which appears to be using a University of Detroit fan site as the source) Detroit, Bucknell and Florida Atlantic will be visiting Toledo in November as part of the Legends Classic.

Again, I don't know if this right. Just passing it along.

And we've discussed this before (somewhere I think we have a thread about college basketball tournaments we'd like the Rockets to be in, and I voted for the Great Alaska Shootout. I still think that would be a good trip, but I don't know anything about what goes into those decisions or what coach Kowalczyk would think about a trip to Anchorage). Regardless, I think someone mentioned in that thread that he didn't like these kinds of "classics" like the Legends Classic (Toledo was in a similar setup last season) because it doesn't seem like a tournament. I agree with that. Get in a 4-team tournament (or host them like the women do, or at least did last season).

I'm old enough to remember the Glass City Classic in Centennial Hall. Three teams came to Toledo: 2 games on consecutive nights. On day 2 the day 1 losers met in a consolation game, the day 1 winners in the championship game. Having the men host something like that again would be OK with me, though I'm not sure teams would come to Toledo for it. As mentioned above, teams don't seem interested in coming to Savage.

Enough of my rambling. Here's the link. You'll have to go down the page to find the info about the Legends Classic. This site lists a number of early season tournaments.

What about some AAC schools- SMU, Cincy etc. Prolly wont get a home and home, but those are some challenging away games.

As I mentioned previously, Coach K said Wright St won't do a home and home. Now that's a slap in the face.

I don't care about Wright State, there arena is a DUMP, went down there when Gene Cross was the coach. Place was empty.

VCU alum here.

Would serve the interests of both schools for us to play. This is the year for you guys to get into the dance. A top 50 RPI next year (which is basically a shoe-in considering your returning talent) and that schedule will certainly net you an at-large bid.

Even with UVA, Cincy, Tenn, Nova, Michigan, Northern Iowa, Dayton, UMass, GW all on the schedule, Toledo could be one of VCU's five toughest opponents.

Cheers.

We are playing Findlay this season. Austin Gardner the SJJ alum some thought would go D1 plays for them. If he is looking to transfer, this is a good time for Coach K to get a look at him. He's a smart ball handler.

He had D1 offers but chose to stay close to home. Evansville's league, St. Francis Penn's league. Stuff like that. Lets remember there are 300+ NCAA basketball teams and Rogers had a few D1 guys in that class.

He was 7th on their team in minutes last season with 13+ per game, and had over 2ppg. A modest start to his career. Keep in mind they had an all American who averaged 24.5 ppg.

Toledo beat Hillsdale in 2OT's, when they were a 7th place finisher in the GLIAC. Findlay finished in 2nd with a 17-5 record. They also beat Wright State and lost to Dayton by 9. Let's not take them or players on their team for granted.

Averaged 2.3 ppg at D2 Findlay. Good kid, I'm sure, but no thanks.

Let's remember that these games you mentioned were 'exhibition' games, aka scrimmages.

University of Findlay.....that will never sound right to me. Is there a defined difference between a College and a University? I don't want to look it up, but thought I heard once that you have to offer so many different programs and have a graduate degree program to be a University. But - still sounds weird. Apparently they opted not to be Findlay University to avoid the whole FU thing...
