RE: Why Missouri State Should Play in the East
If it comes down to recruiting...ASU is the logical move east since we recruit Alabama and Georgia heavier than any other Western Division SBC team.

Of course doing that moves us out of Texas where we've got a lot of coaching connections right now.

Careful. Someone might think AState would be obstructionist on expansion to suit our recruiting needs.

Just saying, if someone moves east from the west they will have at least 2 road games a year in GA/AL to showcase themselves for HS recruits.

Why Missouri State Should Play in the East
I think they should play in the east if it means keep UL in the west.

RE: Why Missouri State Should Play in the East
Makes more sense to put Idaho in the east and make NMSU their permanent cross-division rival and not use divisions in basketball. That way both divisions get a football only member. Remember one of the downsides of football only members is that they don't bolster fan awareness of the teams you play in other sports. If both Idaho and NMSU are in the west, the west schools are always limited to playing only six games against teams that will be on their basketball schedule while the east will have as many as 8 of the brand-building games.

I think that makes sense the East or West makes little difference to Idaho. No one is driving to these games anyway . Savannah to Moscow 2144 Savannah to Las Cruces 1742 miles by car. 965 miles from Monroe to Las Cruces only Texas State fans will travel to NMSU in any real numbers .

For NMSU you fly to El Paso. Not much different than flying to San Antonio.

USA's choice for permanent rival will be ULL.
Troy's choice will probably be Ark State

Assuming an 8 game league schedule, that would mean 5 games in division, one divisional rival, and two rotating games.

For Arkansas State, they would get a game in Alabama every other year. That would harm their Alabama recruiting. If they look at Georgia and Alabama together, its not that big of a deal because they'd likely play at 2 of USA, Troy, Ga St, and Ga So. with some frequency. But Georgia Southern is a LONG way from Arkansas State's recruiting grounds within Alabama. I'm not sure that really helps.

Georgia Southern is close though to some areas of Georgia that we are trying to get a foot into, and the Panhandle of Florida where we are trying to get back into.

Realistically ASU in the East would come down to whether or not we are okay playing a game in Texas every couple years instead of every year.

Idaho to the East makes more sense. No need to have 4 new FBS programs in one division.

Five. South Alabama would certainly count as new.

New Mexico State borders Texas. Idaho is a plane flight anywhere.

No ****. My point is the newbs would prolly rather beat up on each other than go for that.

I suppose Louisiana has a say in this, or is it just South's choice that counts? 07-coffee3

Yes we love to hate on USA, we vote YES, but it should not be South's decision alone, just saying.

I would think if Missouri St. is to be the 12th team there would have to be some agreement before they are voted in as to what team would move to the East.

Has EKU applied to the SBC for membership? Adding them would solve which team is in the east.

Of course...It would be great to add Missouri State and upgrade NMSU as a full member.

As far as I know the schools that are publicly actively seeking Sun Belt membership are Liberty and Eastern Kentucky. JMU, Missouri St. or whoever else may accept a Sun Belt invite but they have not been open about wanting one like EKU and Liberty have been.

Why Missouri State Should Play in the East
Legends/Leaders:

Troy/South Alabama
Georgia Southern/Georgia State
ULM/Louisiana
Arkansas State/Texas State
Idaho/New Mexico State
App State/12th team

If the 12th team is Missouri State, put them in the Legends Division instead of App.
