I'm more intrigued by the state of the North Dakota economy and their desperate need for workers. That bodes well for their future ability to pay for the program though it may not be good for their enrollment.
I suppose adding NDSU as a football only would be similar to Idaho. In any case they would be a long trip for any Belt team. Heck they could even be added to the east but I would prefer an all sports add.
North Dakota, as a state, has tons of money. Surplus almost every year. IIRC, they were willing or did drop a boatload of money into some hockey facilities.
If NDSU had a birdie in the ear of those who determine what is done with state money, they could have a larger arena. And BTW, the home field advantage there is almost cheating. Louder than any stadium in the nation while they're on defense, and you can hear whispers when they are on offense. Anybody that has been will vouch for that.
I'd love nothing more than to get another shot at them on equal footing again. That is a program, like ours, that has a die hard fan base that knows football, and isn't afraid of the big boys. Hell they even had College Game day there this past year.
Again, if we are serious about football, we do what it takes to get NDSU...and drop Idaho for Montana.
If we go ahead and snag the cream of the FCS crop and have a buyout, who else would MAC and CUSA bring up?
If we can keep this conference together until the next TV deal is signed, we have a great chance of being the hands down "best of the rest".
