What happened in your game yesterday? I was looking for it but never could find the game. I looked in today's bracket and didn't see you there either. You must be there if you are talking smack to Cincinnati fans. When does your school play?

I am perplexed as to why Texas Tech fans would care about Cincinnati athletics enough to comment as one did.

To expand on that point, I am pretty mystified as to why someone would care very much at all about any team but the ones that they root for.

From my point of view, as long as ND and say, ten other college athletic programs survived (so ND would have someone to play), I would not care if the rest of college athletics disappeared.

I like the Southern Cal rivalry, but if Trojan sports went away, so be it. Life would go on.

I dislike Michigan and the Big Ten very much, but the same situation applies. If they were gone from the scene, well, ok by me.

I went multiple decades not caring who won what conference or who won what bowl games other than the ones ND played in.

The same holds true if the Pittsburgh Pirates and seven other teams were left in the MLB or the Steelers and seven or eight other teams were left in the NFL and the rest folded.

I would only care about my teams and enough to provide opponents. The others? If pro baseball or football so contracted by 20 or so teams each, ok by me (as long as the ones I root for survived).

(I was alive in the Sixties before those sports expanded and things were just fine by me then).

It would not affect me in the least. I am not being arrogant or elitist about this (see the sentence below). I just don't understand this mindset about "caring" about other teams any great amount.

Conversely, I always assume that nobody other than ND fans would care if ND athletics folded (indeed, I would expect some/many may or would actively root for that to happen). I would understand this viewpoint. Why would a Texas Tech fan care if ND athletics existed, for instance?

See? The reverse would then also be true. Why would an ND fan care if Texas Tech athletics existed?? (not to pick on Tech, they are only an example).

Why would a Green Bay Packer fan care if the Steelers went under or a Texas Ranger fan care if the Pirates went bankrupt and liquidated?

I don't know who won which basketball conference, who is seeded where or what their won/loss records are. I guess that I should look them up. I haven't looked at a bracket.

This caring about how other programs do or "smack talk" about random programs is always a mystery to me, especially if it doesn't involve a head to head contest or a game that at least involves a standing or championship for your team.

ND is not in the NCAA, NIT or CBI. Therefore, I have not watched one minute of basketball tournament action nor will I.

Since my team is not playing them, I certainly would not go out of my way to comment on a message board about a Bearcat, Wolfpack or even a Buckeye defeat in the first round. ( I saw that those programs lost).

Why would I? What would I gain from this?

The same thing goes for "conference smack" or "conference brethren" stuff. What does that do for the team I root for?

If NC State had won last night instead of losing, how would that have benefited ND?

Such concepts are difficult for me to comprehend.

Simply put---- cincy sucks. Pine box sucked against 6-6 UNC and cincy lost to a 12 seed. Deal with it loser and enjoy the who gives a crap conference.

Do you matter? Why should I care about a school that has no desire to be a part of any conference in the only sport that matters.

They played for the BCS Title 2 years ago...this is hilarious...A Tech fan trying to talk Smack/Troll to Notre Dame for no real good reason...ND is so powerful they are basically at the same table with the Big XII, SEC, ACC, Pac 12 and B1G...you see those leagues and ND have Contract Bowl and when ND makes one they pocket $15 Million...not even including they have their own Over the Air Network Deal with NBC...6 Games for over $15 Million a year....

I just checked the overall records in BCS games and couldn't find your "football" school's record. I thought it must be a mistake and double checked and found out tech has never been in one. What kind of football school didn't make it to one in the almost 20 years under that system?

Tech sucked in everything, couldn't even make it into a post season basketball tourney. You suck. Your school sucks. Your athletic department is that of a middle school. Come back when you've done something of note in either revenue sport. Until then continue to hang on Texas' dick... err coattail because tech could never make it to a big game.
