Somehow, in the middle of one of the worst years in a while, UTA beats their second ranked opponent, Sam Houston State, 7-6. Go figure. We can't beat DI-transitional schools, but we sure can play hard against top 25 teams.

29?

We have 4 homeruns all season...and three of them came this week, in the same game, by the same player.

I can't wait to get you guys in Tomlinson and let you experience the Spring Winds. Try hitting one out then.

That's Charles Barkley terrible right there.

Please elaborate on this Spring Wind phenomenon.

In Arkansas, every Spring the winds shift to come out of the South, bringing in all the Warm Moist air out of the Gulf Of Mexico. It brings in warm temperatures (and Severe Thunderstorms...but that's another story).

Our park is built out in a clearing, with no wind protection. That means, every spring during baseball season, opposition comes into our park and finds a steady wind at 15-20 mph blowing straight in from Center Field.

It renders us unable to recruit a power hitter. You play here, you better know how to play small ball... because odds are, you're going to deal with the wind at least once or twice in a 3 game set.

Well perhaps, but one would think pitchers would love to pitch there.

Our ballpark is set up north south with south winds blowing in, the southern winds off the gulf are a lot stronger here than in arkansas. We led the country in hr's last year.

FWIW Clemson is playing #1 Florida State in a 3 game series this weekend, so I'm thinking we are probably not seeing their best line-up.

cool by me. If we win tonight, it will still show we beat the #13 team in the country two times. Maybe they will get lucky and take 2 out of 3 against FSU this weekend. That would really help us out.

Well perhaps, but one would think pitchers would love to pitch there.

Our last three Friday Night starters were drafted in the top 11 rounds. It's very easy to recruit pitching. Unfortunately, there are only two major league pitchers from Arkansas. One of whom has a nephew pitching for us now...both went to Fayetteville.

That's where the talent coming out of Arkansas gets us. We end up recruiting out of state a lot. And with baseball, that can get costly for the player unless they earn a scholarship.

Yet if you look at the numbers, its far easier to homer at Tigue Moore field. Even for opposition

It might be tree cover, it might be that you were built in a valley so the wind doesn't come in as heavy,... It might be that it doesn't come in at just the right angle. You pull up Tomlinsons numbers yearly, and even the opposition barely hits it out.

Your team apparently just doesn't hit home runs, you don't hit them on the road either. Cajuns hit 18 hr's 2 years ago, got a new hitting coach and philosophy then hit 67 he's last year. Philosophy, talent and ball park size have more to do with it than the wind IMO

I throw ASU's numbers out when I look at the homerun totals in our park. We haven't had a true power hitter in 3 years. We play a different style.

A valley? In South Louisiana the nearest thing to a hill is an interstate overpass.
