SBC MBB Champs receive no votes
NCAA RPI

http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball-...etball-rpi

It is not good when our conference champion, Georgia State, with a conference record of 17-1 and an overall record of 24-7 can't receive 1 vote in any poll and has an RPI of 81.

Nothing against Georgia State, but I believe if WKU, UL, or ASU had that overall record, they would at least be receiving somes votes in the top 25. I could be wrong, I'm just basing it on past champions.

It looks like the SBC champ will be stuck as a 16th seed every year, which is hard to dig out of. It is nearly impossible to beat a 1 seed, so every year will be 1 and out. It just dont look good for the Sun Belt in the NCAA Tourney.

At least as an 11-13 seed you have a fighting chance. Its been downhill since WKU went to Sweet 16.

The NIT is beginning to look better every year. At least you have a chance to win some games and maybe go on a run, plus you could get some home games.

The SBC Champ will be at home watching other SBC teams still playing in the NIT.

If Georgia State wins the tourney, I think they get a 14 or 15 seed.

Bruh, there's a selection committee. What you read on Sun Belt Insider has no bearing on reality.

Yea too bad the SB does not have 5 teams with 20 plus wins..CUSA has a better chance of getting 2 in that Sun Belt does.....Take WKU out of SB and add to CUSA and conf. only gets stronger in basketball, fact....I don't think seeding is going to matter to much for SB teams this season, we are the last conf. tournament so I would expect the selection com. to have one spot open for SB conf. tournament winner and would guess that would be the 15th unless someone comes out of nowhere and they have to keep a 16th seed open..GA St. did not nothing out of conf. and does not have one solid win...

Sensitive much? Everyone here knows that in basketball C-USA is a better league than the Belt. Beyond that, it's all fluff.

The problem with Georgia State is they have 0 quality wins in their outside of conference schedule. They beat only 1 team with a winning record which was a 16-15 ECU team. Everyone in the SBC knows that they are really good but outsiders will say show me what they have done. Anytime in the past that a SBC team has been ranked I bet you will find they had at least one quality win on their resume.

No just tried of reading CUSA sucks in everything for a year now...Haha have to take up for our new conf....The guy who posted it knows that if Texas St. got an invite tom. they would be gone....Yet everyone continuously brings it up every other day taking jabs at CUSA....Points to jealously and its getting old...Let it go people....We can have this discussion in 3 or 4 years and see how its going...

Pains me to say it, but it shows just how low SBC basketball has dwindled over the past few years. It's all about winning OOC games and recruiting. Also SBC basketball attendance is an embarrassment.

Exactly, all we did is beat the crap out of CUSA. Definitely not quality.

There are at least 11 teams that will make the tournament with a less impressive resume than Georgia State. Unless Georgia St. losses in the conference tourny, they are destined for a 13...maybe even a 12 if there are a few more upsets amongst the low majors.

Georgia State's resume is awful.

All of GSU wins, except 4, came against teams with an RPI of 150 or higher. The four wins were against WKU (115) and ULL (125).

Their next best win was against ODU at 172.

Their SOS was 269

All of which will be forgotten if they make a deep run in the tournament. I'm no GA St fan but having watched a couple of their games I do believe they are better than their RPI. If they were to lose to UL, WKU or Ark St in the SBC championship game it may set the Belt up for two bids this year.

Unfortunately for us terrible basketball conferences, that's how it works.

GaState: IC (17-1) OC (7-6) RPI #75
Davidson: IC (15-1) OC (5-11) RPI #126

There's no denying that our OOC cost us this year. I don't think most of us fans feel like we're anywhere close to the same team that we were at the beginning of the year, but the bottom line is that we blew our chance to prove ourselves. Hopefully this won't happen every year, to us or whoever might end up at the top of the Belt. A quicker gel and a couple more wins, and we're sitting very differently right now.
