WMU - lower than ever before, as we saw a season ago.
EMU - found the bottom nearly two decades and has remained pat, mired in an inescapable rut.

Lumped as the worst of the MAC West. Ouch

RE: preview of the season
This is the same CMU team that beat our rag tag, injury riddled group of freshmen thanks to a missed 20 yard field goal.

It's the same CMU team that finally had a healthy Zurlon Tipton back, yet outside of the first quarter they couldnt move the ball against our swiss cheese defense.

It's the same CMU team that scored it's first two touchdowns with starting field position at the 45 yard line, as our special teams squad was then made up of 8 walk-ons.

It's the same CMU team that we beat by 10 at Smelly using our 2nd string QB, and playing with second unit WR's.

Nick Beamish, "A certain all conference player" ? In CMU's 50 point loss at UM the announcer said this of Beamish. "He can't block anyone."

The difference in our team and theirs is we knew we sucked. They remain delusional. Some of the slappies are predicting 9 wins. Enos couldn't coach MSU to 9 wins in the MAC. He's as inspiring as a box of Nodose. We knew we were way too young, and didn't have an ounce of depth at any position. They think they're loaded.

Cooper Rush- A pick machine, who needs all day to find a receiver. Mark my word. By years end either Terrell or possibly Chance Stewart, will be better QB's than Rush. Hell, Terrell was a better QB in their head to head last year. Rush was worse than his stats even showed. He threw a ball right into Austin Lewis's hands, and Lewis dropped it. Two plays later Tipton scores a TD.

Lavalli and Gilmore- Neither moved the ball against us in spite of a Dline made up mostly of teenagers. Tipton and Davis were the offense. Tipton is gone. Go back and watch it if you have the DVR.

Dline- You think ours is bad. Kelby Latta who plays DT for CMU tried to beg his way on to WMU's team and based on his senior tape we showed no interest. He's a slow poke fatty, without an ounce of explosion, who at best should be a back up on their Oline. Yet he's a starter on the Dline.

Every one of CMU's losses (their wins were all against 1 and 2 win teams, and a dying on the vine OU team) occurred when teams threw a pass rush at them. If we have no pass rush the outcome will likely be similar to last year, as Davis is good enough to beat teams by himself. But if you have any kind of pass rush Cooper Rush is an immobile pick machine.

I can see CMU winning 6 games, which probably will be enough for Coach Sleep Walker to retain his job. But if they lose to Kansas and Purdue, and then start the MAC against UT, BSU, Buffalo, and NIU I can see another 3-9 Dan Enos special.

In a nutshell we sucked azz in the game against Central and we were playing with newborn babies at numerous positions. Yet in the end it went down to the wire. Again, if you have the game DVR'd go back and watch it.

Good analysis, CD.

Does reinforce Peej better beat talent-challenged Chimps and their hot-seat header this time around, though.

It is a good analysis of the two situations. So by this comparison if peej and his staf f are what they say they are we should beat the chimps. If its close and we lose I will not be too hard on peej unless we are out coached by coach somenex. If we can compete while being young Peej might just turn this boat in the right direction. I do plan on being honest in my assessment this fall good (hopefully) or bad. Bottom line is we should show improvements in areas the coaches can control at this point. I can live with mistakes made by young players but we need to look better prepared all around this season. It might not show in the win loss column and I am ok with that. Really ready for the season.

Me too.

Just want to see a team that looks like it has a plan, and progress on executing it.

Staff says progress is underway. That is good news.

Rubber meets the road in 11-12 weeks.

our D line gets a little bit of a boost today with the news that Braster is now a full qualifier with the NCAA. Was waiting on the last semester of grades to know.

Really? That missed FG would have meant you lost by 3, instead of 6. The game actually ended with 3 consecutive incomplete passes by your QB,from the CMU 26, and CMU took over on downs and ran out the clock. Two gifts inside CMU territory in the last quarter and you got 6 total points. 5 Turnovers given to you, at home, and you still managed to lose.

Can't wait for this year's contest!!

lol

As usual, this one never fails to entertain with his posts. He claims that "we knew we sucked," yet he offered the following prediction for the CMU-WMU game last year:

"W - New QB & oline, rookie DB's. TVT throws for 500 yds 5 TDs. Another blowout laugher. HOME"

And, as for the Iowa game: "Wouldn't be surprised if we beat Iowa. They're 0-2 against us and they're in a rebuilding phase."

Then he tells us that starting field position was a factor in CMU's first two scoring drives; meanwhile, he conveniently leaves out the fact that turnovers by Central resulted in scoring drives for WMU that started on the CMU 46 (FG), the CMU 29 (TD), the CMU 28 (FG), and the CMU 19 (TD).

While Rush threw 3 picks in last year's game, Terrell was 14-35 on the day, threw a pick-six, and missed at least 2 WMU receivers for what would likely have been TDs. Rush didn't win the game for us, but he sure as hell didn't lose it like Terrell did for you.

Upon request I'd be happy to further dissect the nonsense posted above, but I think you get the gist here.

Thanks, and good evening.

RE: preview of the season
Hey dummy, I offered the prediction before we lost half of the starters and depth to injuries......yet even then it took a chip shot missed FG for Zurlon & Co to eek out a win.

Coach Snoozer is losing the battle for talent at a level we haven't seen. Nothing really new though, much the same as we saw during the Flynn/Debo era. The Kelly era was the fluke.........Enos has simply brought the program back to where it's been for most of the last 20 years. I suggest you get used to it. Mt. Pee has been a hard sell since the mid 90s in both FB and hoops. Barring the return of a dynamic coach, it will continue to get less talent than those programs located in more accessible, larger, and diverse communities.

If it simply came down to a coaching change and a snazzy tent suite then Keno and his Rose Arena make over would be producing winners instead of Steve Hawkins. In the end it comes down to talent, and neither Enos, Keno, Dismal Flats or your Doc McStuffin med school are enough to sell kids outside of the northern lower to spend 4 years there.

As for Rush. The one thing that Terell and the pick machine had in common is they both kept WMU in the game. Terrel put us in a position to win....Rush did all he could to throw it away. Wouldn't be surprised if either QB is riding the bench by mid season.

Now go ahead and cut and paste this on your "Slappies Only" web site. I love living rent free in your heads.
