Awesome! glad to know that 12 of your anonymous internet posters would like to accept an invite to our conference that hasn't been extended yet. This is INDEED exciting news!

sorry, I just get the urge to make a douche post on occasion. Is this novel though? Have most Mo State fans traditionally been against the idea of joining the #FunBelt ?

Love to have Missouri State in the Belt! Then we could all argue about which team is flipping to the east and why it shouldn't be them.

East
App St
GA St
GS
Troy
USA
UL

West
MO St
Ark St
ULM
TX St
NM St (UALR)
Idaho (UTA)

Missouri is in the SEC east so I don't see why Missouri St. couldn't be in the SBC east.

Because we are not the SEC and we really could use travel partners to help offset travel costs for Olympic Sports. Missouri State does not make sense as a travel partner for anyone but Arkansas State. On the other had you don't use travel partners for Football so I suppose if we don't break into divisions for the Olympic Sports then it really wouldn't matter that much...

Against is an understatement... back ten years ago, people would have laughed at your face if you even mentioned it.

Creighton leaving the Valley plus with Arkansas State's rise in football has helped turn the tide. If Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee were still in, the decision would be even easier than it is now.

Arkstfan brought up the point that a Missouri State add would essentially create several clusters of schools, all within Driving distance of one another.

Cluster 1: App State, Georgia State, Georgia Southern

Cluster 2: Missouri State, UALR (Idaho), Arkansas State

Cluster 3: USA, Troy, ULL, ULM,

Cluster 4: Texas State, UTA (NMSU)

If you made a divisional commitment to keep Clusters together...You could probably divide it up any way you wanted and not face a lot of travel issues.

His proposal was to pair up App and the Georgia Schools with Missouri State and the Arkansas schools, while pairing up the Louisiana, Alabama, and Texas Schools. That puts one non football in each division, which is then paired for football purposes with NMSU and Idaho. Putting NMSU and Idaho in separate divisions.

Using a Cross over rivals deal like the SEC has would ensure that at no point would more than 4 SBC schools ever have to play both NMSU and Idaho in the same year...and those schools would rotate every two years.

It is the Oly sports. When Benson and the SBC talk about they want a travel partner for App State they are not considering Georgia State, and certainly not Georgia Southern. Georgia State is already a conference member and the clusters do not address what they are looking for in the East.
At the same time, think Missouri State is probably a fine school and would like for us to bring them into the SBC for sure. Worried about getting their football attendance up to NCAA requirements for FBS though. But you would have that same problem with many schools.

That's an incredible idea. It promotes stronger regional rivals as well as helps the departments save on travel costs.
