SBC Softball This Weekend
Cajuns won 6-2 and got a great pitching performance by Christina Hamilton going the distance giving up 5 hits with one earned run and 14SO. She also only had 2 walks, which had been a bugaboo for the Cajuns so far this year. The Cajuns also had a couple of home runs by Sara Corbello(6) and Haley Hayden (8th) to go with 11 hits.

Next up for the Cajuns in the tournament is #12 Baylor scheduled for 5pm today. It's looking like Jordan Wallace versus Whitney Canion, and should be a good one.

I'm curious about that Ohio game who we play tomorrow. I don't think they've had a killer schedule, but 13-1 is pretty good and they have a good win over South Carolina.

Georgia Southern takes on Troy probably in about 10 minutes now. Won a game against them last week 4-3 and I believe we'll be throwing our ace today

20 seconds after I typed that:

GS Athletics ‏@GSAthletics 13s
SB - We are underway at Eagle Field vs. Troy. Watch the game at http://gseagles.com/showcase/ #HailSouthern

Edit again: no ace, Brooke Red is on the mound instead.

#24 Cajun softball holds on to beat #12 Baylor. 11-10
After the #24 Cajuns built an 11-6 lead, #12 Balor mounted a comeback that just fell short. Balor scored 3 in the bottom of the 6th cutting the Cajuns lead to 2, 11-9. In the 7th Balor added a run, then with the bases loaded with 1 out, Cajun pitcher Jordon Wallace shut the door on the Bears comeback by striking out the next 2 batters, stranding 3 on base. The Cajuns are 2-0 at the tournament in Gulfport and are 11-5-1 overall.

Saturday the Cajuns take on Chattanooga at 2:30 p.m..then play Ohio at 5:30 p.m. at the tournament in Gulfport

Sunday they close out the tournament against Memphis at 10:30 a.m.

SBC Softball This Weekend
We have some really good softball teams; as we do in baseball but, having a thread for every game is "cluttering" up the board. Let's try to consolidate and put results and comments in one place....as we have done for the men.

If anyone would like to take on the task of starting a weekly thread, feel free.

We should not combine baseball with softball threads as someone has done with this thread.

Yeah, my mistake. I'll get that fixed. I took ones that I thought were softball. I kinda suck at merging threads. 03-shhhh

The Cajun softball (13-5-1) team beat Ohio (12-5) at the Gulfport College Classic 3-1. After the game was tied at 1 after 4 innings, the Cajuns took the lead for good after Elkins Homered in the bottom of the 5th knocking in Fernandez to give the Cajuns the 3-1 lead and win. The Cajuns are now 4-0 at the Classic. They close out the Classic tomorrow against Memphis at 10:30am.

Lady Cats split w/l on Saturday. Lady Cajuns clean up vs Baylor and we got stomped by them. Disappointing. Cats stand at 13-6

Today it's Nicholls and MSU for the gals.

If this is a tournament, why aren't we playing Louisiana? Kinda glad we're not, though.
