I don't like this schedule. I'm not fired up at all.

Edit: Maybe I'm just depressed about the state of WMU Football.

In the past, this would have been a great schedule. Good ACC team, poor B1G team, Idaho and FCS for non-con. NIU, Toledo, Ohio and Eastern all at home. Crossover with down-and-out Miami. Ohio will be significantly worse next year.

Then again...with our team in it's current state...who knows what to expect next year?

You need to watch some more PJ videos to get back in the "RTB" spirit!

Just don't watch any game tape from last year.

Fireball is whiskey. Whiskey is not a chick thing. Therefore, Fireball is not a chick thing.

RE: 2014 Schedule released
What ever happened to the long held belief that a new head coach has four years to implement his system?????? Some of you seem to think that the cupboard wasn't bear when Cubit was canned... He was 4-8 in his last year, and he was about to go into the crapper the next year if he had been kept on...
Keep in mind that Fleck didn't inherit much depth, and they lost 13 starters during the course of the season. It's a good thing that recruits are pretty much immune to this message board bull.
I had a chance to speak with a preferred walk on from Gull Lake. We were at the Gull Lake girls district final with Charlotte, and had a chance to yak with Odell Miller(not sure of last name) he's the center for the Gull Lake boys team. The kids 6'4" and weighs about 225 and can run like the wind... He is just geeked to come and play for Western.. I'm sure he has no clue that this chamber of doom is on the internet...
The Gull Lake girls gave it their best shot. Losing by 1, 45-44.. Just thought you high school guys would like the girls effort.

I think I might have clarified my position and sarcastic remark a few posts later, but of course, you choose to ignore that and try and pick a fight. 03-phew03-weeping

Honestly, the internet.

Hear me out. Think back to the 80's and 90's. Things were "slower" back then. With the dawn of the internet, came the dawn of instant gratification and mass impatience. This has seeped into everything in our lives now. Fast food has grown by a mile. Shipping is expected to be prompt and short. We expect instant results in almost everything. It's just how things are these days.

Things changed when PJ promised so much, only to deliver so little in 2013. Leaves a bad taste..... And a lot of dissatisfaction.

RE: 2014 Schedule released
I'd say Fleck does have some slack and time to show his stuff. Nobody expects instant success.

That doesn't mean fans can't make qualitative judgements about what they see.

So what does this have to do with the Toledo Bball game?

Haha. I'm not trying to pick a fight. If I was, I would've quoted you. And you say Persky is sensitive.

I think PJ promised a lot, but he didn't say he was going to accomplish it all the first year...I don't remember ever seeing him say I am going to produce X amount of wins year one.

Point is he promised so much and really raised expectations, before the team even took it's first snap. Then proceeded to lead the team to one of it's worst seasons ever. Might have been the worst had UMass not gone for a 2 point conversion at the end of the game.

And my point is...he indeed fell flat on his face in year one, but he still has time to get the program to places it hasn't been before. Again, the expectations he put out there don't have to occur in year one.

No, but there better be SIGNIFICANT improvement in Year Two to indicate he is capable of meeting those expectations, and has us moving towards them.

I don't have a problem with this. Whether we agree or not, PJ definitely believes he has had to tear this thing down to build it back up. He's torn it down, gotten his facility improvements, gotten a first recruiting class that is pretty widely accepted as very good. Now he and his staff have to get it done on the field.

He's going to get his contract, and I will definitely be dissatisfied if he isn't getting into bowl games and even winning some by the time he leaves one way or another.
