This weekend's series will be played at Homer Stryker Field, not Haymes. Still no "true" home game, but in Kalamazoo at least

RE: Bronco Baseball
I guess the infield isn't ready?

From the press release:

“Due to the harsh winter we endured in Southwest Michigan we regret that Hyames Field has not been in optimal playing condition thus far to host home baseball games.” said WMU Athletic Director Kathy Beauregard. “Despite collaborative efforts within the University, the positioning of our stadium, a high water table and various other circumstances have made it difficult for the infield to respond and recover from the winter we faced.”

It's too bad but Mother Nature is still undefeated.

Fortunate we have a facility such as Stryker in town to use. Not all universities are so lucky.

He didn't want anyone fielding grounders while recruits were visiting.

RE: Bronco Baseball
figured I would just add this here.

My son played his first travel baseball game today. He hit his first pitch yard way over the high fence and followed it up with a one hop ground rule double(went 2-3). He plays 12u for the feeder team for Kalamazoo Central. He closed the game out on the mound 3 innings no runs, 2 hits, no walks, and six strike outs. I think the off season lifting he has done has paid off(mostly body weight stuff and some dumbbells). Every once in a while he would complain about working out but he kept at it. Was nice for him to see that working hard pays off.

RE: Bronco Baseball
The Broncos win two out of three at Toledo. This keeps Western mathematically alive for one of the final spots for the MAC Tournament. They play a crucial three game series this week starting on Thursday at Central Michigan. I know we've all been down on the program, but it's still a bit of an accomplishment that this team has managed to stay in contention for a spot in the MAC Tournament. The fact that they haven't played a "true" home game all year, is a testament to their toughness. This team has actually been playing its best Baseball of the year, towards the end of the season. GO BRONCOS-BEAT THEM CHIPS!!!!!!

It's so cool to see our children do well in anything in life, but for a lot of us, athletics holds a special place in our hearts. Thanks for posting, it's fun to hear from fellow posters about their children.

Western and Central have split the first two games of the series. After losing game #1 9-7, the Broncos came back for an 8-0 victory yesterday. Today is a must win game at CMU.

RE: Bronco Baseball
My son went 4-6 today with a walk. 2 double, a triple and a single. Hit it over the center fielders head 3 times. His last at bat they played him really deep and he hit it almost to the fence but the kid caught it. They play on softball fields and the center field fence is 345. Not a bad day. He is starting tomorrow morning on the mound.
