McMullen held an offer from that school in mt. pee, but don't worry...he made the right choice.

Also has some interest from the B1G programs. Wouldn't be surprised to see more offers thrown his way.

Wouldn't be surprised to see one of those stars revoked since he committed to us.

Video on Junior McMulllen. Huge for a junior in high school at 6'2", 225 lbs.

Scouts Allen Trieu says he is likely top 20 in the state of Michigan. Sounds like a good start to 2015. He is also teammates with John Kelly which is a plus.

I wonder if WMU's success of holding off kids from "bigger schools" in 2014 might hold some of them back from trying to poach.

Doubt it.

Pretty good angles, likes contact, no bucket steps, seems to be able to play with his hands and few false steps.

I can see him playing sam or will here. Would like to see more film of him playing the second level, we dont use our olb as a rusher that much at least not yet.

RE: Official Recruiting Thread - 2015
For those that care about these things or want an idea as to how well Junior McMullen is thought of, he was ranked the 13th best 2015 prospect in the State of Michigan by Scout.com. WMU is the only school besides MSU to have a verbal from the top 35. Other WMU targets are in the 10-20 range including John Kelly, Dior Johnson, Jon Keenoy, and Juwan Holliman.

Apparently, from interviews, McMullen will be playing the mike backer position at WMU. Likely would redshirt while Sylva is here.

Video on Parker Underwood. He is a blocking tight end at this point.

Well, he is a tenacious blocker. No idea if he can run routes or catch a ball. Didn't see a single passing play in that video.

RE: Official Recruiting Thread - 2015
Well if Parker Underwood works as hard as he does in the off-season and at his pass catching as he does at being nasty with the blocking, he is going to be a hell of a TE. Remember, just because his team may not throw a lot doesn't mean he can't be an effective pass catcher too. I think it was Juan Nunez who caught 10 balls his senior season in high school and he turned out just fine.

They are likely going on his size and whatever they have seen if he attended a combine as a junior. You can't teach 6'4" 235, especially if he shows some speed. One thing about TE's is they can convert to Olinemen with some extra weight or to DE's.

RE: Official Recruiting Thread - 2015
True. You can't coach size or speed. He's got the right size to be a TE right now. Could potentially play DE too. I guess it's a wait and see right now.

I certainly like how tenacious he is as a blocker. Gets to the 2nd level and finishes through the play. Bulldozed about half the guys he went up against. That kind of 110% effort is great to see and had to factor in to our early offer to him.

He plays in a zone running scheme and has a nasty streak that can be a good thing if you can control it. If he played for me I would have to temper his blocking 50 yards away from the play and through the back of the end zone. Not my style of play. I hope he is able to be focused.

Reminds me of Jimmy Kristof's nasty streak you could see on film when he was in high school. He has done a good job of playing within the rules. I agree at with you though, at times Underwood held his block to the point of ridiculousness. Could be that is what he is being taught though.

Very true. I inherited a program twice in which that and WAY worse was the norm. What he is doing is not bad but what tends to happen is you will get penalties behind the play that brings back long gains. People used to laugh when they would see my teams on film running down the field with their hands on their helmets. We were a big play team and we would have people flop on us, hence the hands on the head.

The kid has a one track mind but incredible desire and decent technique.

I'd be looking to have him get off the first block and go for the 2'fer.

Hope we hang on to him.

Looks like a good receiver whereas Underwood is a blocking TE.

Sources are reporting a commitment from TE Caleb Reams out of Gurnee, Illinois Warren Township HS. 6'3" 225 lbs. Has offers from Toledo and Colgate.

http://sports.yahoo.com/westernmichigan/...ams-161972

Staff appears to be going after TEs early. 2 TE commitments early on and another just visited campus.
