I know from personal experience that our press box kinda sucks. It is small quarters and over crowded.

As far as indoor practice facility. WKU already has plans to build one on the back side of the stadium where the open grass lot is. It already provides a 2nd practice field for players.

Isn't that current pressbox an integral part of the upper decks?

Doesn't appear to be load bearing from this pic:

Nice pic.
That just seems a huge waste to knock that down and build a new one. Just extend it to the end of the seating on both sides.

Here's the problem. To do suites and to address the pressing needs for a permanent TV booth, expanded coaches areas, replacing the inadequate elevator set up and better space for working media plus to deal with the different technology needs of today you have to gut the thing down to a shell completely re-wire and re-plumb it. That's slower and more expensive.

You have essentially 270 days from start to finish for the entire project. You can tear the whole thing down in one day. A week if you want to salvage anything.

Demolition and starting over with added challenges of retro-fitting wiring and plumbing easily saves you 30 days.

That Elevator needs to be sent back to 1900 where it belongs.

Why not leave the press box on that side as is - with renovations only being suite type boxes and build a new press box on the other side of the stadium?

The alumn. bleachers could be redone and dressed up on the outside and I would think that it would be easier to do a tear down on the steel bleachers than on the concrete.

You don't want TV on the other side, the midfield logo would be upside down and you don't want the media complaining about looking into the sun.

I was really impressed last year with the renderings of the overall improvements to be made. Please stay in the SBC. Troy and Louisiana are in the process of doing large scale renovations and add-ons as well. We are going to have some GREAT facilities.

The interesting thing about this project is that because this facility will be available for general student use, and not just for athletes, we were able to finance some of it through student fees.

That helps a lot when you don't have tons of big donors who can just give you millions at a time.
