Frank the Tank made several arguments against adding Wichita St. One of them was that they are a "Johnny come lately" and we wouldn't want them if they lost their coach and became mediocre.

I'm not sure that's correct. In 1999-00, Wichita St suffered its 9th losing season in 11 years. 16 wins was the best they could do in that stretch. Despite that, Wichita St drew 7400 fans a game, which ranked 69th in the nation in attendance.

Isn't that exactly the kind of program you want to add? One that the locals support win or lose?

The Shockers have shared a conference with several AAC members; Louisville, Cincy, Tulsa, Memphis. They have been to 2 Final Fours and have won 1400 games in their history. They aren't really a Johnny Come Lately program, but they have been inconsistent and I'm not a fan of bringing them or any other BB/olympic sports only member into the conference.

We just experienced a conference failure based on mixing BB/olympic sports only programs with real athletic programs.

I'll bite. DON'T ADD ANYONE! We are a conference that is in constant motion and no one knows who is actually or will be in it. This will continue for 3 more years. Build the brand until the next contract!

I say we add Wichita and drop Houston.

Wichita would be the commonly mentioned non-football addition I'm least attracted to. If we were going to go that route, I see more upside with UMass or VCU.
