How many schollies does SMU have this year?? He already has 20 on board that we know about. Wouldn't be unusual to have 1 to 3 in the bag that no one has on boards yet. Seems to me he can call and keep up with current kids from anywhere.

Maybe so, but unless those 20 are blood relatives, he should be busting his ass to keep them as verbals until the ink is dry. If I was the remaining Pony fan I would be pissed. If a few of his better ones flip at the last minute....

I agree you keep working those kids, but most of that is working the phones. and believe it or not Haw does have the telephone. A lot of the keeping in touch is having the coach that recruited the kid, keeping in touch with them.

That being said, I would think a person could stay on the job for another week, than take a week or 2 off.

We lost one yesterday because the kid was having trouble reaching June and the staff.

Eastern Michigan is more proactive with coaching/recruiting than SMU/June, he'd be competing with GVSU, Wayne State, and other D2 schools here probably, he's lucky he's at a Texas school.

This man does not deserve another cent from SMU

Maybe Hawaii wants him back... 03-lmfao03-puke

The only reasonable explanation is he is recruiting in Hawaii or American Samoa (and had a stayover in Hawaii).

Otherwise he should be fired for being in Hawaii on 1/25.

Crazy. Our basketball coach was not even born when Brown finished playing there. He then went on to play for the same coach.

Original post doesn't really tell the whole story. We have visual evidence of June iteniary

June spent the week of January 9 at Hawaii PGA event playing in Pro-Am

Spent last weekend as the only Division 1A Head Coach working as one of 20 assistant in East West game

Spent past weekend at NFL Pro Bowl

He's just jacking with us now-screw SMU-he's gone after next year

BTW I realize that January 9 was during Dead Period but if you have experience with January recruiting in Texas- its really no excuse. They have 500 Texas kids to canvass and analyze. SMU is last among Texas schools getting offers out. One vacation MAYBE but 3 vacations?

Didn't Jones just sign a three year extension in December?

A charade intended to trick high-school kids into thinking that the coach who's recruiting them will still be there 3-4 years from now.

For SMU, the problem is that any player dumb enough to fall for that isn't somebody you'd want on the team, anyway.
