Before the games began, many thought it was a 6 team race with ASU, UALR, ULL, WKU, USA, and GaSt in the mix. USA is already behind the 8 ball with 2 home losses. ASU, UALR, WKU, and GaSt started 2-0 on the road. Despite the loss to ULM (on the road), ULL will definitely be in the hunt. I see no clear favorite, but I think the league is deeper than it has been in several years. My goal, for UALR, is a top 4 finish to get one bye. Top 2 and the double bye would be the ultimate goal.
I really hope WKU can get some sort of bye this year. A 2-0 start on the road (which is where we have been struggling so much in past seasons) is promising.

Not gonna lie. Didn't realize we had started off so well. Guess I need to start keeping up with bball now.
We seem to be road warriors this year. If we could learn to play better at home then this might be a special season. The team also has yet to put together a complete game.

I'll never understand how someone could not "keep up" with basketball...only the best NCAA sport there is.
And that is the attitude of Memphis towards sports... LOL. Its all good. And so is Memphis basketball. BTW with you guys gone, the Sun Belt is very close to CUSA in basketball (!) And we aren't very good in basketball.
Valentines Day. Its getting closer by the day. Who needs a cheap date when you can take your loved one to the opening day of baseball season and sit out in the 30 degree weather.

You would not fit in much of the South. Outside of Memphis which has the Grizzlies, and a couple other Metro areas, basketball is a secondary sport.
Heck, several ASU fans had no idea how we did this weekend in league play. We are all football all the time. The other sports only get attention if they win.
Announce we have a basketball game in league play at home, and no one will care to show up, but if we were to introduce our football team at halftime? At least 2K who would never normally go to a basketball would show up.
In past years I remember crowds of 10,000 range in Jonesboro. Maybe those days are gone but it has not been THAT long ago.It did happen.2/14/98-10,312 vs ualr.

I didn't care much about the NBA until the Grizzlies moved to Memphis...now I love catching NBA games, esp the playoffs.

The only time the Convo has sold out for basketball was the opening game vs. Memphis, and the Women's NIT game vs. Arkansas. I don't believe it has ever been over 10K other than those three games.
I don't know if it is young people having more exciting things to do, or the realization that regular season games are meaningless, or the inability to schedule Oklahoma State and LSU type teams at home anymore - but I don't ever see it going back to that level - despite the amazing things that have happened to our football attendance. stAte would have to be a legitimate top 75 program to get to that level of support/attendance again - and it will take a conference with more nationally recognizable names - which I don't see happening.
Sadly A-State and Jonesboro are 50% bigger now than back when we were top 100 in NCAA in attendance regularly. Haven't dented this list since the year 2000. Thanks DickNuts.

I follow WKU ... Period! Only supporting a single sport and not supporting all your schools athletic programs says a lot about where your program stands. I follow basketball , football, baseball , swimming , track, ect. I only keep season tickets to the big three but stay in tune with all.

Go Tops
Agreed. I know many here don't give a rip about cross country, for example. My belief is that if we are going to field it, let's win it. Luckily, our athletic department feels the same way. Men first, women second in the SBC this year.
