Joe Danneman @FOX19Joe: Justin Jenifer's high school coach: "Most coachable kid I've ever had. His basketball IQ is above and beyond. A pitbull on defense."

Joe Danneman @FOX19Joe: Jenifer won Baltimore Co. player of the year as a junior. Averaged 18 points, 13 assists as a junior, according to his coach.

2015 point guard Justin Jenifer (Milford Mill Academy) has committed to Cincinnati, source told @CBSSports. Good get for the Bearcats.

Kid seems to have gotten mixed reviews. I said earlier on Bearcat Talk that his video reminds me of Michael Horton in both body type and playing style, which makes me very uneasy.

Well lets see...mick wanted him.

Seemed to have decent offers

Seems to be ranked in top 22 PGs

Supposed to be able to score

Where did you coach or what is your background to project high major college guards?

Michael Horton?! Are you kidding me? This kid looks to have the best handle out of any PG we have recruited in a long time and was definitely throwing some nifty dimes.

If you want to criticize something- maybe his size or his herky-jerky shot. But I fail to see any semblance to Michael Horton...

Like Dub said, best handles we have seen from a player in a very long time. High IQ, which is something everyone here always seems to ***** about. Has a pass first mentality. Will easily qualify and should have no problems with the clearing house.

He is a bit on the small size, but has picked up an inch in the last year and may have a little growing left to do.

I think it is a good start to the 2015 class.

His size shouldn't bother anyone. Wasn't Downey only 5'9?

I'm a poster on a message board giving my opinion. I never claim to be an nba scout.

As an avid uc fan I would like to see them take the next step and compete for final fours. To do that you need some big time talent. I just don't see this kid as the type of player that helps uc take the next step. Instead he seems like more of the same.

Billy, Downey was lightning quick and a darn good shooter to go along with being 5'9"

I don't know how you can consider Jenifer more of the same when Mick hasn't had a natural PG with his passing and ball-handling skills.

Future150 ranks him as the 60th best player in the class:

Quote:Scout’s Notes:
Justin has shown extreme growth in his game. He has ball-handling skills that will rival just about any other point guard in his class. He also has a sturdy body and uses that to his advantage when attacking the basket and finishing plays. Also a very unselfish player who thrives off getting teammates open shots. Solid defender.

http://future150.com/hs/basketball-profi...er-pg-2015

He ranked as one of the top 30 players at the Pangos All-American camp, where he also was considered the best perimeter passer.

Sounds like he's been a UC lean for awhile - glad to hear he's now a commit. I really like watching him play in the highlights - I think he'll bring some excitement to the game. Hopefully now he also can lend a hand in recruiting to help fill out this class.

I have never seen him play but as a point guard he has to be better the Guyn(?).

This. Horton was 6'1 205 lbs coming out of high school. At the same age he had at least 50 lbs on Justin Jenifer.

Going off his highlight reel, the kid has as good of handle of the basketball as anybody on the team right now, his shot is a little unorthodox but it looked pretty effective.I am looking forward to seeing him in a bearcat uniform!!!!

RE: 2015 Basketball recruiting
As a "true pg" I really hope he pushes the ball up the court quickly on every possession. I don know if that's a Cronin dictate or if it's the pg's discretion but it drives me nuts when they walk the ball up the court.

ok... 35 lbs... I was close. As Lush originally posted, Horton was much thicker than Jenifer.

RE: 2015 Basketball recruiting
He's tiny.

I agree w/the poster that said he is doubtful that this is a kid to take UC to another level.

Great we signed a kid with potential, however he seems like a bit player on the college level. A spark off the bench. He'll be a HUGE defensive liability and D is half the game.
