oh well COGS

Nothing you are saying is grounded in logic. Ray Charles could see that we were headed to FBS. We built an FBS football building before playing a game, and had a pro stadium 3 blocks away. You didn't have to be a genius. There is zero Kennesaw is doing that is similar to the foundation we built to go FBS and as most GA residents on this thread have stated they do not have the cash to go FBS. Stop saying crazy stuff.

Without its own weight room....

$1M gift to add it

So it wasn't an FBS football building?

Shut your face! I am online shopping.

In all seriousness they screwed the pooch. There is a sizable building next door that was to house the rest of our amenities including weight room. Our Ath Dept found a way to tick off the owner who had been set for years to only sell to Georgia State.

Meanwhile when does Kennesaw start? I forget since the moved the date twice already that I know of. So we are supposed to believe that they, cash strapped as they are, will somehow find money to turn their soccer stadium into an FBS stadium, if that is even possible? That does not even begin to take into account the other amenities that by 2020 wil be regarded as FBS standard. All kidding aside, Kennesaw is where Georgia State was in say 1985. There is nothing in their student body or in their alumni base to indicate they will she'll out the necessary dollars for FBS football.

"Mercer is going to be the class of FCS for years to come."

Why would Mercer be the class of FCS for years to come?

Have money.
Built stadium and field house in 13 seconds.
Won 10 games (all-time startup record) in YEAR ONE
Have no instate recruiting competition except Kennesaw and Savannah State.
Have support (Averaged 9379 per game for #17 in FCS in a stadium with capacity of 6000)

Actually their capacity is 10,200. They went ahead and increased it from 6,000 after the response from season ticket holders and interested in the program.[/b]
NCAA shows their capacity as 6000. The rest must have been temporary bleachers this year.

It's 10,200, they added an upper section last summer before their inaugural opener.
I'd expect them to make some noise in the SoCon with Bobby Lamb at the helm.

Agreed, we'll see how they do outside the Pioneer League next year but they did things really smart. They hired a good coach in Bobby Lamb too. The man knows football and he's very familiar with the Socon teams so that will definitely work to their advantage.

The stadium and field house build, the way they engaged the Macon community. All well done. But they have had a well run Ath Dept for years.

Bobby Lamb and Mercer will be a force to be reckoned with in the SoCon for years.

KSU's got a lot to live up to, Georgia Southern & Mercer have set the bar quite high in state 05-stirthepot
Hopefully they'll go rivalry week with Mercer being they're former conference partners from the A-Sun.
Kind of funny KSU's slogan "OWL UP". . .
Wonder where that came from ?
