BCS Match-ups
Does anyone else have differing opinions of selected at-larges or match-ups?

Title Game: FSU vs. Auburn
Orange: Ohio St vs. Clemson
Sugar: Alabama vs. Oklahoma
Rose: Stanford vs. Michigan St
Fiesta: Baylor vs. UCF

*Locks in bold

The Orange and Sugar teams should all be Top 14 and will be selected on basis of quality, ticket sales, and tv ratings.

Sugar could go with Oregon instead of Oklahoma but I agree the Sooners are the most likely opponent.

Orange has first replacement pick since Fla St is #1. Could they choose Bama?

Don't think so. Plus remember Bama was down in Miami last year. I think given a choice they'll choose Ohio State

Technically, they can choose Bama only if the Sugar Bowl consents. Here's the rule on replacement picks.

3. If a bowl loses a host team to the NCG, then such bowl shall select a replacement team from among the automatic-qualifying teams and the at-large teams before any other selections are made. If two bowls lose host teams to the NCG, each bowl will get a replacement pick before any other selections are made. In such case, the bowl losing the No. 1 team gets the first replacement pick, and the bowl losing the No. 2 team gets the second replacement pick. If the Rose Bowl loses both the Big Ten and Pac-12 champions to the NCG, it will receive two replacement picks.

A bowl choosing a replacement team may not select:

A. A team in the NCG, or

B. The host team for another BCS Bowl;

Further, when two bowls lose host teams, the bowl losing the No. 1 team may not select a replacement team from the same conference as the No. 2 team, unless the bowl losing the No. 2 team consents.

That's correct Cougar. I made my prediction with the assumption that there is no way the Sugar passes on Bama and allows the Orange to take them.

Yes, there is a slight chance OK does not make the top 14. They are at 17 now, and will certainly move up to 16 because of the NIU loss, and they will also surely pass UCF as well thanks to UCF's weak win over a weak SMU team (hurts them in computers).

After that, they need to either (a) jump LSU as well OR (b) have Arizona State fall past them. Since ASU will likely fall past them, OSU should be in at 14, but it's not a sure thing. If they are, Oregon will get aced out.

And that is an extremely safe assumption. 07-coffee3

Yep, just as I said. Those are all games worth watching, too, save for Baylor-UCF. 07-coffee3

Not really...on the field they look much like the Baylor- UCF Game...outside of Stanford - Michigan State game which should be close the rest look like double digit defeats...like Alabama, Ohio State and Florida State to win by that much in their games....07-coffee3

Do any of you think Baylor is a bad matchup for UCF?

Better than Bama or Auburn. Texas would've been ideal. Going to be tough to score enough to win that game..

It's hard to tell. The Big 12 combined for one quality OOC victory this season, Oklahoma over Notre Dame. Otherwise, the Big 12 feasted on FCS/Sun Belt/MAC/CUSA teams. K-State lost to a FCS team and went 5-4 in conference. Texas got throttled by Ole Miss and BYU, but was one game away from the Fiesta bowl. I don't think anyone really knows how good the conference is.

Baylor's Wins
OOC: Buffalo (8-4), Wofford (FCS), UL-Monroe (6-6)

Big 12: Kansas (3-9), Iowa St (3-9), WVU (4-8), TCU (4-8), K-State (7-5), Texas Tech (7-5), Texas (8-4), and Oklahoma (10-2).

I know we are rightfully underdogs to Baylor, but all in all they have one of the weaker BCS-bound resumes. Only UCF and Clemson have worse, imo.

I think Baylor, Alabama and Florida St will be favored to win going away.

The Rose Bowl and the Orange Bowl look to be decided by a TD or less.

No, I think intelligence is a tougher matchup for quo vadis, and winning is a bad matchup for USF. 05-stirthepot

I did not know the consent rule until last night. I knew the Orange Bowl would get the first replacement pick, but sounds like that pick cannot be Bama.

UCF plays up to their level of competition. I dont see Baylor dominating this game at all. In typical fashion, I see it end at 10pts or less either way. There is NO WAY Baylor walks away with this one by a large margin. Anyone that says they will is delusional.

OOC games past few years.

@ Ohio 31-16 (loss)
vs Mizzu 21-16 (loss)
vs SC 28-25 (loss)
@ UofL 38-35 (win)
@BYU 24-17 (loss)
vs BC 30-3 (win)
vs NC State 28-21 (loss)
@ K State 17-13 (loss)

As you can see, they play a pretty tight game. UCF hasn't suffered an OOC blowout in a few years.
