The Lower Bowl
We are digging down another 12 rows, then retaining wall height to field level. Should be finished digging in a couple of months. Pic courtesy of c2rsx

Great looking venue. Will feel bigger than it is.

Thanks. I really like that cantilevered first deck that juts out over the top rows of the lower bowl. And it's built at a steeper grade than the lower bowl.

Should have great sight lines and give the feel of the fans being on top of the field. Hopefully loud too.

It was scheduled to be done in time, and on top of that construction is ahead of schedule by a few weeks, so barring a catastrophe we should be good to go for 2014.

RE: The Lower Bowl
Looks awesome. I love how they built the home "side" with the suites and loge boxes under the main deck, which is steep, and built to keep the fans as close to the field as possible. Like someone else already said, it makes it look a lot bigger than it actually is, and will do wonders for field noise.

Looks a bit like TCU's stadium, which means it will be nice. And I'm sure UH will do a much better job of actually filling the stadium than TCU does

That's actually a pretty cool design. What's the max capacity going to be?

Built to be easily expandable in phases.

But our next major project is the basketball arena.

And I seriously doubt we'll ever need more than 40K for football in the future configuration of the American conference with no autobid.

Our goal is to sell 20K season tickets next year. Our recent high was 13K in 2012. 20K is an ambitious goal, but this new stadium presents a once in a lifetime selling opportunity.

That said, we'd need to sell 30K season tickets with a waiting list before we'd expand the football stadium. That's a long ways off, and probably would only happen if we got called up to a P5 league.

I'd settle for everyone averaging 30K+. 6 of our schools are already there, and I believe Houston and Memphis have the ability to get there quickly.

As a whole, our league has a 5-year average attendance of 30.7K

Compare 25.5K for the MWC, and 20.6K for C-USA.

RE: The Lower Bowl
I'm really excited. And if we have any consistent success we're going to start averaging attendance at least in the mid 30's. I'm hoping the concourse will be more comfortable to walk through and that the amenities will be sufficient. Especially if we ever need to expand.

I really wish everyone in the conference could be ranked at least a few times during the past few years...

thanks for the good vibes about our stadium...
