Yeah, Tulsa can compete in CUSA 2.0, but they are hopeless in CUSA 3.0.

Let me put it another way, as I said before, there are two kinds of people in this forum, those that are not happy with the Tulsa/Tulane adds and then there are those that are liars

you and reading comprehension don't really go together to well do they

Good grief man, there's a better way to make your point than merely calling people that you don't agree with liars.

Our own fans say the same thing about us....must be where he's getting it from. "We were fine this year in a watered down CUSA but next year the level of play is 10000x better." --half of the ECU fans on BYB--- no offense to any of y'all, but weren't we all doing okay when we were all in the same league?? Hence why we got the nod?? I mean UConn, USF, Temple and Cincy are the only ones we weren't just in a conference with and 3 are having down periods....

I've actually checked out some aac games this year and even though records don't show it for a lot of the teams I did see some promising things. Contrerary to most ecu fans I think we will struggle next season these aren't the same teams we played in cusa. If ecu struggles how will a team we blew the doors off this year going to compete.

This was an important season for everyone to improve most schools did some more noticable than others while tulsa regressed big time along with usf and uconn. Usf will bounce back and it will take some time but so will conn. It is going to be hard for tulsa to compete when they couldn't even compete this year in an embarrassing cusa and must jump up another level of comp next season whether you see it that way or not. Once you start loosing it is hard to get out of it ask usm.

This is the same 2012 cusa houston ?
Memphis Might not be winning games yet but they look much better than they did in cusa.
Smu looks about the same I'll give you that one.

Not sure why so many ecu fans think we will just come in hear and own the place these schools are all a year ahead of us and are continuing to get better.

It's called The American Conference. AKA AAC. Not CUSA 1.0, 2.0, or 3.0. We are our own brand.

Never said it was the same. Teams rise and fall every year, it's the nature of the game. I said we should be okay. Next year we could rise or fall, so could UCF, so could Houston, so could Memphis, so could everyone.......all of the schools in this conference have potential to be good or bad.. that's a huge reason we are all in it in the first place. Not world beaters, but we all have won our fair share.

Not sure why so many ECU fans think we are going to suck so bad. Maybe y'all know something I don't. We do lose some good players after this year........

This is such a good point. I see many posts on here from fans of the American fighting for respect, commenting about the perception of the AAC moving forward and how it (right or wrong) should be looked at in a favorable light as potentially the 6th best conference in football and definitely a power conference in basketball.

Then I see many fans, mostly fans of the newer teams, so easily and freely talking about the “good old days” of CUSA, and referring to CUSA 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0.

I understand the good memories but I can’t understand why any of you would want your school in the past or presently being associated with a conference that is next to last in the ESPN FBS power rankings and near the bottom in basketball. I get the impression from some that its almost a mindset of “we are now back in the good old CUSA days, the band is back together and let the good times roll”. I take offence to someone that makes the reference that Temple is now just in a CUSA make over and I just can’t understand why (some of) the fans of the new teams don’t seem to want to distance themselves.

What am I missing here? I could be wrong but it seems the Cincy, Louisville, and USF fans have taken more of a “we are out, we moved up, and we are never looking back” mentality and it puzzles me why others don’t seem to see it that way.

My opinion is that you've misjudged the comments. CUSA 1.0, 2.0, etc are used as reference points, not something that fans are striving to rebuild.

CUSA was a good conference home. It's time to move on.

In regards to AAC Football this year, here's the current conf standings:

UCF 7-0
Louisville 6-1
Cincinnati 6-1
Houston 5-3
SMU 4-3
Rutgers 2-5
UCONN 2-5
USF 2-5
Memphis 1-6
Temple 1-7

Seeing how Temple on the road just dominated/destroyed Memphis, at this time, I'd have to say its Memphis.

Huh interesting most fans I have talked to think we are going to come in and dominate. Not expecting an 0-12 season or anything I just think we will need time to adjust. We have a cupcake game then go to usc and vt before playing unc then play a bunch of teams that are just different than the ones we have played in years past wether it is their coach or skill level. Besides carden and hardy most of our starters next year haven't even played ucf houston Memphis smu before. We are replacing most of our oline secondary olb rb and lee pegues. That's going to be hard to replace not saying we can't it will just be difficult.

UCF and Houston should be tough next year. Memphis, Temple and USF tougher. SMU seems to be dropping out. Tulsa, UConn, and Tulane have a ways to go. ECU and Cincinnati, should be in the middle of it.

Decent market + location fits footprint + strong academics + historically one of the winningest football programs in C-USA + respectable basketball traditon.

Navy has good football, but expect off years 30% of the time.

Well, UConn football will recover with that said the best schools with both strong basketball and football programs are:

Connecticut
Cincinnati

South Florida football will recover so I group them here. The schools with strong football but needs basketball improvement:

Central Florida
East Carolina
Houston
South Florida

The schools with strong basketball but football needs improvement:

Memphis
Temple

Schools that will be weak in both football and basketball and both sports needs major over haul:

SMU
Tulane
Tulsa

I refuse to go on byb those guys are ridiculous but I've heard people go both ways on htc. Id go anywhere from 6-6 to 9-3 in the regular season. Just to many questions specifically in the OL and secondary right now IMO.
