Remember all the crying and whining when Louisville fans were glad to be out of CDOA? Yeah me too.

Is that supposed a comeback of sorts? What's your point?

It is what it is. Louisville fans will tell you. Ask them. My post is 100% truth. They made it no secret they were unhappy with the Liberty Bowl. They were downright angry that their 11-1 team was "relegated" to playing an 11-0 Boise State team that was actually ranked HIGHER than the Cards. Boise State was ranked #9 in the BCS poll and the Cards were ranked #10. They were mad to be playing such an "unworthy" opponent in a bowl game that had been around for almost 50 years.

All I'm saying is that they are going to be much angrier if they are 11-1 or 10-2 and stuck playing a 7-5 MAC team in the inagural Toronto bowl game.

I've always liked the Liberty Bowl. Perhaps you are being overly general again?

Am I? I know that message boards may not fairly represent a fan base as a whole. However, pretty much all Louisville fans who frequent this message board were up in arms about them playing in the Liberty Bowl in 2004. That's a fact.

Regardless, you make a good example. Assuming that you were actually happy with the 2004 Liberty Bowl invite, will you also be happy if your team is 10-2 and you play a 7-5 Kent State in Toronto?

Then they will remember how much more money their school is making now, how much higher their school's profile is now, and how much of a better overall conference they are in now. Your hypothetical anger will fade really quick after that. Game over.

Whatever happens will not be the Toronto's Bowl fault. I'm thankful for any bowl that chooses to associate with the Big East.

And what it is is a CDOA fan ironically saying how Louisville would cry when you just spent half a thread whining about the Cards 'forgetting their roots.'

Again when 3601 drops his 2 cents most threads get pushed to the smack board unbelieveable. Are you going to ever get over it, if there is a Louisville thread, I know you'll be there. Envy and jealousy is a horrible disease.

3601 will get over it eventually. It is tough being on the outside looking in - consider yourself fortunate.

Not going to happen, so irrelevant.

Tigeer, as a cardinal and big east fan I do feel fortunate. You wouldn't see me on a thread on any other conference board hijacking and making useless comments either. If you aren't going to say anything relative to the thread or discussion at hand why post? To me it smells like sour grapes and bad cheese. If he is that sensitive to discussion on the "big east" board in any particular thread the why can't he refrain from posting? I realize its a free country and we don't really need cyber patrol but man he seems like a caped crusader with his rhetorical speeches. I don't venture to this board to get a sermon, I want some big east discussion. I don't have a problem with him or any other CUSA guy who bashes the Big East or the cardinals over on the CUSA board, because its there board to flame and talk about whoever. I just wish we could have the same thing over here. Its just the hijacking and the "wanna be" Popes that come over here and ruin it.

Exactly....If we slip that far to play Kent state then that means we didn't perform on the field, but to try to bring up the boise situation is way off base. People were upset with that because they felt we should have been in a at large spot for one of the other higher bowls. There were alot of bowls that the BCS conferences couldn't fill, and there were some bowls there was interested in UofL that year. Most cardinal fans I know and talk to have major respect for Boise State, it had nothing to do with them, but a let down of having to play in the liberty bowl once again and not being able to play in another at large bowl game. It wasn't clear whether we were going to play in the liberty bowl until all the other bowls ahead of the liberty were set, but you are out of your mind if you think it had anything to do with Boise State. It had nothing to do with feeling "to good" to play in the liberty bowl. Why can't people feel like they deserve more, if you work hard at your job and you excel more than others do you feel you deserve more at times? When you put in more and get back less? Have you ever felt that way? Don't try to be "DJ spin doctor" and tell us how we really felt. Damn man get some thicker skin, its not always a me against the world thing.

Bearcat 1984 Wrote:As for the Gator, I had the impression that the Gator / Sun deal was every other year. Although I don't know if that's true. Or if it's an every other year they have the right of first pick or something.

Anyone know exactly how that arrangement works?
I'll just paste what I posted on a UofL board to save typing:

***********************************************************
This is my understanding of the contract (unless it?s been changed behind the scenes):

In the next 4 years, the Gator must take the Big East\Notre Dame two times (but ND can only be chosen once) and the Sun must take Big East\Notre Dame two times (but ND can only be chosen once).

There is no specific arrangement where this bowl has to pick from this conference for this year, just so long that at the end of 4 years the above mentioned criteria is met. The agreement is that the Gator always has the first pick every year with what they want to do.

If ND does not make a BCS game this season, I would think that the Gator would invite them, and the Sun would then have to go with a Pac-10\Big12 matchup, and it could be bad news for the Big East #2 team.

If ND does make a BCS game, then I would think that the Gator would be ready for a new, non-BE team and would go with a Big 12 team, and then the Big East #2 would go to the Sun.

Here?s a link from last summer on the Gator\Sun arrangement:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/fo...index.html

I think U are right... if Nd goes to bcs Gator likely will take big 12... the very first time ND doesnt go to bcs gator will grab them...same is true for the sun... if Nd goes to gator next year or year after ... the very first time the are eligible for the sun bowl that bowl will grab them..

Jackson

my understanding is this year charlotte has to take navy if they are eligible.. no matte what wv or Ul is... that is why BE made sure they had houston locked up this year.
