RE: Question for Gasta Fans
Guess some fans would say:
Dang - hardly makes it worthwhile to pay off refs if you can't get calls your way.

Didn't the MAC have a lot of that going on in basketball for a few years?

You do realize we are in the SoCon. Probably not a huge leap but all SoCon refs would take a Sun Belt job. That can't be said the other way around.

Have you polled them?

I thought so.

RE: Question for Gasta Fans
From the few FCS games I have seen, most of those refs would have a hard time getting a high school job. Our refs aren't pretty, but they are at least capable of calling a good game occasionally, and have replay to at least help.

One fan's great refereed game is another's terrible.

I'm not usually a referee-paranoid type of guy, there have been times I've had to wonder. A couple of years ago, App State went thru an entire season without a single holding call made against an opponent. Not one. Its often said you can call a hold on every play if you wanted to. And yet. Not one was called in our favor for an entire season!

Yes because you can't apply common sense in a thread. I am pretty sure you don't need a poll to find out most folks want to advance in any profession...but hey I could be wrong... FBS>FCS Let me also make this crazzzzzzy statement most coaches in the SoCon would leave for a Sun Belt job as well, lump in most AD's with that too......I just spitballing here but since I'm on a roll DIV II refs would probably take FCS jobs if offered...

The SLC refs were notoriously known to be training for the B12.......and it showed.

2011. I remember that after the 3rd/4th game, someone posted "hey, we haven't gotten a holding call this year!" so someone started keeping track.

IDK if it was for every game (I think we got a holding call on a punt return in a non-conference game later that year that wasn't a SoCon crew), but I do remember it was for every conference game. and that year we had Dan Wylie, an all-conference nose tackle who weighed 300+ who helped keep top-ranked Georgia Southern to 171 yards rushing (they averaged over 300+). I dare anyone to tell me he didn't get held the entire year.

SoCon refs are hideous at spots. It would be one thing if they were to be consistent, but they aren't. A player leaps out of bounds to gain two extra yards? They either give it to them or not depending if they're menstruating.

We had a TD catch ruled incomplete earlier this year against Samford because the WR let the ball go after he landed with complete control in bounds and started getting back up. And the kicker is that the ref lives in Boone by the golf course. No joke.

Then you got the ones who don't know how to work their mics. And the ones who stop an up-tempo drive to discuss something with the head official for ten seconds, then return back without anything happening.

They will just have to screw us in different ways. :)

Two losses could have been prevented with instant replay.

This year we just stunk.
