first time I've ever heard this....I'm still laughing my stoned arse off watching this strange/crazy world series....
this song reminds me of me and my bud getting stoned and writing a simple ditty titled "aunt bee" and these guys....well done man! I needed that reminder....

You have to listen carefully...
Artist: The Jolly Boys
Album: Pop 'n' Mento
Cut: "Big Bamboo"
1989 Rykodisc Records
Live version, but harder to hear the lyrics:
The Jolly Boys are a mento band from Port Antonio, Jamaica. It was formed in 1945 and had great commercial success in the late 1980s and 1990s among reggae and world music fans. The Jolly Boys grew out of a group called the Navy Island Swamp Boys that formed on 11 April 1945, and often played at Errol Flynn's parties. They released a new album in 2010 (Great Expectation) and are currently the house band at GeeJam, a hotel in Port Antonio.
Although its core group has remained fairly stable over the past sixty years (take that Rolling Stones!), a full list of the Jolly Boys members would include a large number of official but transient members. Today, the "original" group consists of Albert Minott (lead vocals), Derrick “Johnny” Henry (rumba box), Allan Swymmer (percussion), and Egbert Watson (banjo). The current touring band mixes three of the original members (Minott, Bennett and Henry) with three younger members (Dale Dizzle Virgo on drums & percussions; Lenford "Brutus" Richards on banjo; and Harold Dawkins "Jah T" on guitar). Long time member Joseph "Powda" Bennett died on 20 August 2014 after a respiratory illness, aged 76.

Artist: Psychedelic Furs
Album: Mirror Moves
Cut: "Highwire Days"
21 August 1984 Columbia Records
The thing about Richard Butler's writing is, it is extradordinarily original and colorful, however the underlying topics are quite disturbing. Which might be the result of a disordered upbringing (born on 5 June 1956, in Kingston upon Thames, London, England. His father George Butler was research chemist, a Communist and an atheist. His mother was an artist.)
Keith Forsey, a former percussionist, produced the Furs' fourth album, the first without drummer Vince Ely. Forsey, of course, is famous for having penned the #1 hit song "Don't You (Forget About Me)", from The Breakfast Club, (which was originally intended for Billy Idol, who declined) and was instead recorded by Simple Minds in 1985, going on to top the charts in several countries.

I listen to Western's college station when I'm not listening to NPR. I heard this one the other day. Shazamed it and screen shotted the results so I can go back later and see how much I really like it.
Btw, you can listen to their station on TuneIn Radio. It's 91.7 'The Revolution'. I love new semesters and years. Listening to kids learning their way around a Radio board. Some are naturals. Some you know will never be behind one again.

Another off 91.7. Zach is one of those dudes that when you hear his voice in something like this that you know immediately who it is. I knew his voice but I had no idea who did the song til I shazamed it.

This popped up on my Pandora feed when I had it on shuffle. I'm listening to it and liking it and it seemed familiar then it finally hit me they were covering it.
The Shins - We Will Become Silhouettes
Here's the original. This is one of my all time favorite videos. Such cheese. I read in the YouTube comments that Jared Hess who directed Napolean Dynamite produced this video. After knowing that I can definitely see it.
