Any potential Belt members in the State of Mississippi?
Just wondering. There's something of a 'hole' in the state membership as one moves from east to west across the conference.

I would like to be in a conference with USM, but other then that, not much. Delta State is a pretty good DII school.

I would like to see USM in the Belt if Hud should leave. He recruits really well in MS. USM was our only rival in the 80's. They usually beat the snot out of us but it was a rival. One year a frat kidnapped the Golden Eagle. It caused that frat a lot of trouble. In there drunken state they didn't realize they were kidnapping a person and keeping them hostage.

It has been said that USM has kept USA from getting any kind of notice from CUSA. Is it just coincidence that USM hasn't won a game since South became a FBS power???05-mafia

SO you guys want out of the Belt too?
University of Slow Alabamians
Student population 15,000 ( pretty good )
The school operates a hospital (That's got to be a plus)
Mobile County 400,000 ( Not bad )
Mogadishu Stadium ( god awful )

I would say you guys fit into the CUSA model accept for the stadium. That can easily be fixed.

Never said I wanted in CUSA, I wanted the old CUSA, not this one. The only thing I want out of CUSA is USM. I said it had been said that USM had kept us from CUSA. You talk about us being slow, yet you have a real comprehension problem with your reading.04-chairshot

Mississippi Valley does have a football team. They play in the SWAC. It's where Jerry Rice played his college ball.

Miss lucky to have 3 FBS schools for so long. Crazy they had 3 and Georgia had 2 until this year despite being a much larger and wealthier state.

Jackson State were they to make the investment would be worth considering. There is a proposal floating around for a domed stadium to replace Veteran's Memorial that would also function as a convention center. Would be very interesting if an HBCU were to go to the NCAA with a bowl proposal to see if they would stick to their guns on the flag issue.

There was a time when there were aspirations, but not so much. The SBC suits us just fine.
