If that's not a tradition, I don't know what to tell you.
And Tennessee has NEVER played this song before.
Not correct. UTK plays it at both football and basketball games. I lived there long enough and heard it enough times to make a definitive statement. I didn't go to every UTK home game (thank goodness!) but every game and every tailgate I went too, they sang that song.
Go Tigers Go
Go On to Victory
Be a winner thru and thru..
Fight Tigers, Fight
Cause We're Going All The Way
Fight, Fight
Right For Blue And Gray
And Say
Let's Go Tigers Go
Go On To Victory
See Our Colors Bright And True
It's Fight Now Without A Fear
Fight Now Let's Shout A Cheer,
Shout For Dear MSuuu.

I just think anything that started after the school was named University of Memphis can't be a tradition. I think it would have to go back to MSU days. But then again, I'm old.
No idea whether UTK plays it or not. I have heard another school play it, but can't recall which one.

There isn't a single google search that indicates Tennessee plays or even chants "I'm so Glad."
What they do have is a chant about how great it is to be a Tennessee Vol, but it's not even close to the same thing.
If anyone can provide proof that they do, I will shut up about it, but this isn't the first time people have connected ISG to Tennessee and this isn't the first time people haven't shown their proof here.
You're allowed to have more than one band tradition. This isn't some threat to the fight song.
And as long as it's here to stay, I'm glad that it irks some people here.

Practically every HBCU out there has their marching band know "I'm So Glad" (it's Tennessee State's fight song, if you weren't aware). Some play it every now and again, mostly when playing TSU, or just at random, since those bands have an encyclopedic depth of band songs.
In the spirit of stealing songs, we did it, for some reason, approximately 25 years ago and it's stuck. And our version is a lot more fun and boisterous than TSU has ever done it.
