Thank you AAA I wonder if this guy thinks that Cincinnati will, at least, be a quality basketball win. I recall the Memphis 24/7 site did not put UC football in that light (but he did with UCF, UL and Duke).

I don't know him well, but I don't know why he wouldn't. I wasn't aware what he said about UC football, must have missed that. Maybe it's b/c of the loss to USF??? At any rate, he's usually a straight shooter, certainly not a sensationalist or a troll, by any stretch.
He gets paid to write those articles, and I think he works for a local TV station, too.

RE: Memphis Roar: 5 Questions with Mick Cronin
FWIW (BEFORE the UC game):
http://cincinnati.247sports.com/Article/...SMU-156004
"If you glance at the rest of Memphis’ schedule, Louisville is the only team remaining that would be a quality win. Honestly, there were only three games on the schedule that would have been of signature win quality in the first place: Duke, UCF and Louisville. So yes, Memphis may still equal their win total from a year ago, but once again, it looks like they won’t get a win over a quality program."

You asking me? Grant. He's the one who wrote the article. I assumed that is who he was talking about.

RE: Memphis Roar: 5 Questions with Mick Cronin
my favorite game I attended while a student at UC:
1995-96 season
#7 UC vs #14 Memphis
The Shoe
Fortson vs L.Wright
ESPN Thur Night Game
UC won on late free throws by Art Long…
Forston had like, 25pts, 17rebs….Lorenzon Wright had maybe 17pts 15reb? Something like that.
Mingo Johnson had a chance to give Memphis the lead in the final two or three minutes on a three and he didn't hit it. It was a great game and of course, UC held on. That Cincy team went on to the Elite 8 and I think that was the year Memphis was upset in the first round to Drexel but ya'll had a great team.
Oh, and the UC Bearcat mascot got thrown out of the game at the end of half time for standing in the way of the Memphis players while they warmed up. The ref asked him to move and he mooned the ref and he was tossed. LOL.

You've got a great memory. Mingo was only here 2 years and one was indeed the Drexel loss. I look forward to playing the Bearcats each year; it's a long series with a lot of entertaining games.
There was a game at the Pyramid that was delayed 15 minutes because a rim was bent/unsprung. I knew it was going to be a looooong delay when they brought out the biggest sledge hammer I had ever seen to try to straighten it. Lil Abner couldn't have swung that thing with any accuracy.
Here was the amazing quote that I took from the interview:
Quote:“I can remember as a kid, Memphis coming to Cincinnati and going down to watch Andre Turner play against Cincinnati and I was just in awe of how fast he was. So it goes back a long way for me personally.”
Cronin was a kid when Andre Turner played? I know I'm old, but that comment hurts.
