As far as our QB's go and recruiting, I think you have it backwards. Usually at the high school level, the best athlete on the field is the QB. Those guys are often then converted to running back, DB,WR or some other position at the college level. Our offense is often called a "high school offense" as teams attempt to insult us - but that fact helps us get QB's sometimes. We give some very good athletes a chance to continue to be the signal caller at the college level when most other programs will only offer them other positions. We hope THAT will help us continue to sign great QB's for our offense. Hopefully we sign some guys with the same running abilities who ALSO have the other element of great passing ability like some of our former guys (Tracy Ham, etc.).

Assuming SWOPE is back at 100% next season, we should be solid all the way around. I still hold great expectations for our first season FBS season. GATA

Good post.

There is absolutely no way I want to see this program move away from the option again, and to me recruitment of so-called 'more traditional passing quarterbacks' is a step in that direction. And if that means we occasionally lose with what brought us here, then we lose with what brought us here.

The criticism of McKinnon's shortcomings as a passer, though perhaps accurate, is entirely uncalled for.

Personally, I think the school leadership let McKinnon down by announcing the move to FBS. And I'll stop there.

McKinnon was in 3 straight semifinals, I think he'd had his shots at a title.

McKinnon has not developed in the passing game. That criticism is in no way a judgement of him or his playing ability. It's just a fact. I believe the coaches asking him to play all over the field stunted his growth as a QB if he was the guy we were going to depend on like we have.

As for recruiting, we need to be getting guys that are dual threat, and I want a stronger threat from the passing game. We need to spread the defenses if we want to be successful running the ball, and if we don't focus on the passing part of our offense then we are just handcuffing ourselves. We need to be focusing on getting good QB's, not getting good athletes that we can stick in the position.

It's so funny watching you do this. You have no idea what you are talking about.

I don't know what I'm talking about? That's rich. Keep banging out that rent money.
