Huh? The Big Ten will expand eventually. But it's not going to work with any other conference. It's going to poach.
Here's the short list:
Texas
Kansas
Oklahoma
Missouri
Virginia
North Carolina
Georgia Tech
Vanderbilt
Duke
Florida
Florida St.
...
Tulane
Rice
All but Oklahoma and Florida St. are AAU members. But, Oklahoma and Florida St. are football Kings, so they would be willing to grab them as part of a larger expansion.

Wilkie wants to know.
Why would Boston College take a huge cut in revenue? Inquiring minds would like to know!
Really, why in the heck would BC, or WVU for that matter, leave the gold pot for the coal pot.
Spot on! They wouldn't!
wilkie, welcome back you lookin forward to coming to chestnut hill...?
Can your cards stop our power running game, we put up 300 yds + on USC, IT WAS SHOCKING...
Stookey, it appears that you root for BC and NOT for UConn. " Our power running game"? Any real UConn fan would never say that about BC.
If you like BC, you hate UConn. If you like UConn, you hate BC.

Well, I was referring to a hypothetical situation where certain conditions are met for such a merger idea to become feasible.

They also would give UConn a truly hated rival. They don't have one here now that Syracuse left. There are no opponents in the AAC right now that can get a rise from UConn fans - and that's not a good thing as it's never "home" without the rivalries!
Memphis had almost the same problem in CUSA after Louisville, Cincy, and Marquette left.
We were down to getting up for USM...that about it.
