This may be the absolute dumbest statements ever posted on this board!!! He was drafted number 50th player overall in the second round of the 1972 NFL draft. He played a number of years in the NFL, albeit far from a star, as a serviceable back who one year ran for a 4.1 YPC on 77 carried for 312 yards and caught several balls out of the backfield. In 1975 he had nearly 900 all purpose yards. He had over 1,300 rushing yards and nearly 1,200 receiving yards in his professional career.
I swear some Memphis posters are ruining this board!!!

I'll be honest. All that hype wore me down. I didn't think we had a prayer to win in Louisville this year. What you are seeing from my comments (and I watch a ton of college football), is the realization that:
Bridgewater (while a fine QB) is no Robert Griffin
Louisville (while a fine team) is not unbeatable
The computers have Louisville pegged about 14th-18th in the nation. Based on what I saw tonight, that's about right.
Agreed. I still feel we have no shot at UL, but the last couple weeks have given me some small degree of hope that we might well have a punchers chance at Rutgers.
Punchers chance? Thought you guys were the best ever!

if by some freak of nature memphis were to beat ul in football this year it would not be our biggest win ever or our biggest upset or the largest crowd to ever see us win or the best qb we have ever faced. it would be a win over a team with the most hubristic fans we have ever played
It might be our most humiliating loss though.
Ask Coach Bobby "Bob" Petrino about your most humiliating loss... He'll tell you.
Edit: Or how about going back a couple of years (2011) to where you lost to FIU AT HOME......

RE: Louisville vs Rutgers gamethread
Reflecting the day after, this was a huge wasted opportunity for RU. Several times the Cardinals got into the Red Zone and didn't come away with a touch down.
I ain't going to let Gary Nova off the hook. He made some really stupid decisions last night, but RU's o-line got their @ss handed to them in ways I haven't seen since RU had their debacle season in 2010. That leads to no running game, QB's being hurried and sacked, and an ineffective passing game. I mean, Nova was getting pressured when Louisville was sending three lineman.
I think the defense gave the O several opportunities to change the outcome of this game, and the O choked. Our only TD was set up from a trick play that Strong should've killed via a timeout when he saw us lining up for it!
ugh...

My thoughts, and I have not been able to listen to much Sirius/XM today, are they will be crucifying the UoL today for not showing up. In addition they will continue to hammer them for the schedule they are playing to further push their P5 agenda.

Isn't that exactly what they've been doing with the BCS for almost 20 yrs? Nothing new is going on here. Just the names have been changed to try and alleviate some of the bad blood.

The atmosphere at Papa John's looked great last night. Lousiville certainly earned it's call up to a P5 conference. I hope we give you guys a good game.

Wasn't he college footballs all time leading rusher when he was drafted?
I know he was the first running back in NCAA history to run for 4,000 career rushing yards.

Did you miss the fact that we were playing all freshmen and sophomores in that game against FIU -- and the guy who scored against us for them happens to be doing pretty good right now in the NFL. Geez, it takes time to rebuild a program when you have been Kragthorped and ruined (course that's a redundant phrase).

What you have written here makes perfect sense, and cutting you some slack would seem the correct attitude to have. I suggest you have a talk with BatonRougeEscapee about this very subject. We, too, have had a bad run of coaching.

Here's something incredibly important I forgot to bring up: Hey Louuhville people, the announcer on your own commercial on ESPN3 pronounces your name wrong. What's up with that?

What does he say? As long as it is not Lewisville, it can't be too wrong. It should be pronounced Lou ah vul. But Leweyville, lou ah ville, Leweyvul, all are passable. Lewisville is a town in Texas.

Wait I thought Loueeville was wrong wrong wrong? I mean I correct people who say it that way to demonstrate my incredible command of regional dialect.

RE: Louisville vs Rutgers gamethread
It is not what a Louisvillian would say Justinlot, but it is common enough and technically the city was named for King Louis XVI due to his support of the US in the Revolution so since the French pronouce Louis as an English speaker would say Louie that is not too bad to me. But if you are born and raised here you most likely say it Lou ah vul. But we know we slur our speech with a slight southern lowland accent so we normally give people a pass as long as they don't say Lewisville. That is just completely wrong and those people should be mocked and corrected and shamed into submission.

If anyone from Louisville feels differently they can have their opinion but Lewisville is the only one that bothers me.
