RE: Hey Hokie Nation...
It looks like VT's string of 93 consecutive sell outs is going to end this weekend. On Wednesday, Western Carolina returned 3,400 unsold tickets from their allotment. Western Carolina has lost 11 straight games, so it's not a surprise there's not a lot of excitement from their side for the game.

It was my understanding that VT was basing their participation in that game based on whether a certain player (do not recall his name, and don't care enough to search for it) declared for the NFL draft or not.

Louisville was approached as a replacement for VT if they did, indeed, decide to pull out.

There was nothing underhanded about it.

Except that CFA and the VT admin say that the "other school" called CFA wanting to play Alabama.

And the player was our qb, Logan Thomas.

Truth be told, not like him returning is all that great. He's nothing special at doing what QBs need to do best: Throw the ball.

I don't see the big deal here. Even if it was UL that contacted the Peach Bowl people and ESPN about replacing VT if VT decided to back out because VT's QB went to the NFL and planted that doubt/thought in their heads...

I was pretty ****** how the Metro disolved, no doubt. I'm not sure UofL deserves all your ire though. There were four other (out of seven at the time) Metro Teams that also voted for dissolution.

But the facts remain that it was hard to swallow and sticks in your craw, and rightfully so, IMHO. The ACC missed the boat sticking us with UVa as our crossover instead of VT. I think that rivalry could've been rekindled quickly.

VT and VCU were kicked out before the conference dissolved. So Louisville got a huge payday since they were in charge of the Metro treasury. Nobody trusts Louisville. They were just the better option over UConn.

Oh sh*t. I am so glad someone said this. Ammo in another thread.

I have no problem with it either. In fact, IMO the Hokies should've backed out on the basis that our QB stinks out loud... oh, and we can't tackle on kick returns either.

I get the feeling that Beamed isn't concerned about an early season loss any more. After 10th seasons of it, he's used to it now.
