Cool, #26.

We are #24 in the Coaches' Poll. I'm quite certain the Athletics Department will be tooting all the horns about our return to the polls.

RE: New Week 2 AP Poll
WEEK 2
4. Clemson
8. Louisville
10. FSU
14. ND
26. Miami (FL)
33. Virginia Tech
35. Georgia Tech
39. Virginia

So realistically, if no one lays an egg, the Coastal division should be able to promote at least 2 of those 4 lurkers into the top 25... that would give the ACC 4 teams in the top 25, plus 1 future & 1 partial member. SOS should be high enough to boost Clemson & FSU into the BCS title game if one of them is undefeated. And a 1 or 2-loss team should have a shot at a BCS at-large bid, IMO.

Nebraska's lucky to still be ranked after giving up 600+ yards to wyoming. Glad to see VT still getting some points. I think it's well deserved after the way our defense played against Bama.

If we win against Florida on Saturday - which we should - I think we crack top 15.

TRUE. Just as important - it helps you start to get the Gators out of South Florida as far as recruiting. Your "wall" is torn down; y'all need to rebuild it.

It would be nice to have Miami-FSU have big National title implications again, correct me if I am wrong but wasn't a meeting between Miami and FSU earlier in the 2000s the most watched college football game? Be nice to have eyes on the ACC like that again. Perhaps twice a year?

I hope so - I think we have a realistic chance to have the Miami-FSU game this year be a Top 10 vs Top 10 matchup. That would be highly watched. If it happens it signals a major rise in ACC football competitiveness.

One of the major flaws of the alignment is that Miami/FSU can play twice a year. I think it should only be once a year . Think the same of OSU/Michigan and the Big 10 luckily corrected that with their smart alignment.

It wasn't a flaw. It was the main purpose, if not the whole purpose, of the non-geographic alignment.

I personally hope it never happens because VT will be representing the coastal every year.

They wanted FSU/Miami on Labor Day each year then they expected them to play in FL for the ACC Championship in Dec each year. It didn't work out that way...

Not really. The teams all wanted a Florida team on their schedule every year and to visit the state at least every other year. That is the main motivation behind it. For recruiting for the other schools. The alignment wasn't to help Florida State and Miami.

It wasn't a flaw. It was the main purpose, if not the whole purpose, of the non-geographic alignment.
